Easter Sunday, 2025 - The Resurrection of Jesus Christ
By Apostle Joshua Selman
Ephesians 2:6
Colossians 3:1
Resurrection Sunday is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and the consequent victory that we now enjoy
Working in victory as believer requires the knowledge of
- Finished work of Christ
- The dynamic of appropriating it
The Christian faith is divided into 5 areas of consideration
- The revelation of God
- Creation and the fall of man gen 1:1-3,26,28,3:1,23
- The revelation of Jesus Matthew 1:21
- Who the believer is in Christ 2 Corinthians 5:17, Ephesians 1:18 - When Jesus saved you, His intent is that by buying into His proposition to receive His life, you will be upgraded experientially until you become a manifestation of a son indeed.
- The imminent return of Jesus Christ and the judgement that has been prepared for satan, the wicked spirits and those without Christ
What does the bible mean by the gospel?
1 Corinthians 15:3 - 4
The gospel captures 3 things essentially, you cannot understand the gospel until you understand the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.
The vital components that constitute the gospel
In understanding the gospel properly, there are 6 areas you must explore
- The divinity of Christ John 1:1,14,10-12
- The humanity of Christ - The earth work of Jesus 1 Timothy 3:16, Hebrew 2:17-18
- The death of Jesus.
Why did he die?
The ways to transit out of this realm are:
- The administration of immortality - You can experience the progressive manifestation of the life of Christ that it can swallow up corruption in your life. The bible said Enoch was not, because God had carried Him
- Death
The reason he died was to give Him a legitimate right to go to hell Acts 2:27 Jesus did not die a sinner, but died as sin(an embodiment of sin, because he took by covenant the sin of man) - He died because through death, he could defeat death itself Ezekiel 18:20
Jesus was buried - It is important you know He died.
The grave is beyond a tomb, the grave is a spirit, it can kill visions, the assignment of the grave is to bring confinement and stop visibility; anything in the grave is lonely, cannot be helped, anything in the grave is covered.
Colossians 2:15, Revelation 1:18
The Christian faith is the only known faith practice where there is a testament that he has reason. Jesus was not the first to resurrect, there were many others who had resurrected - the difference is He is alive for evermore
- His Burial
- His resurrection John 20:2,5-6, Matthew 28:2-6
- His accession and His exaltation
When Jesus resurrected, what did it mean to the believer?
1 Corinthians 15:13-19
- A validation, a seal to the fact that He was God and the son of God Romans 1:2-4, John 1:1
- The resurrection gave credence and credibility to every other thing Jesus said. We have the basis to believe Jesus today, because He said he would come back to life and He did come back to life. It then means every other thing He said is worth believing
-
The resurrection established His victory of Christ of sin, satan, death, hell and the grave - all these have no power over the believer who understands.
The meanings of death:
- Separation of God
- Corruption - degradation: Inability to rise to a standard of nobility and excellence
- Cessation from living
Believers in Christ don’t die, they sleep.
The resurrection today gives everyone(who believes in Jesus) the legitimate ground to be a partaker of His life, a partaker of what the bible calls His resurrection power and a partaker of His victory1 Chronicles 15:56, Ephesians 2:1-10
When you come to Jesus, you come with your normal life until you confess His lordship over your life and when that is done, a miracle happens, and they are:
- Your sins are forgiven
- You receive an imputation of righteousness within your spirit
- You receive the life of God - Zoe
From then on, you are no longer a normal human being, but a supernatural one.
When you come into the knowledge of this truth, there are 3 supporting revelation that must empower you to manifest the reality of resurrection - your positional advantage
I can fail alone, but me and Jesus cannot fail- The meaning is that you are connected to the vine John 15:1-5
The resurrection power is the power that was exerted when Christ was raised from the dead. There are 3 dimensions to that power.
- It transforms - It can turn a weak man to a strong man, a foolish man to a wise man
- It brings about resurrection - Anastasis/Anazao, they mean to revive, to bring back to lifeRomans 8:11
- It empowers John 1:12, Acts 10:38
