Pastor Jerry Eze Preaching - The Exploits of a Sent Man (Part 3)
Sermon

lightbulb Message Summary - Key Nuggets

  • Through every dispensation in scripture, heaven has been shopping for a sent man — and the absence of a sent man obstructs heaven's resources from flowing.
  • The devil has always tried to stop the sent man at every generation, from Adam to Abraham to David — and he will fight you too if you are commissioned.
  • God solved the problem of human weakness by not asking for human righteousness but by giving His own — the sent man operates from a place of imputed righteousness.
  • The blood of Jesus did not just forgive your past, it forgave your future — you approach your assignment without the fear of your own weakness disqualifying you.
  • Isaiah 41 describes the sent man as a new sharp threshing instrument — Heaven makes the tool and commissions the work.

Heaven Is Always Shopping for a Sent Man

Through dispensations of scripture, through seasons and times, the desire of heaven has always been to look for a sent man. The desire of heaven has always been — I mean, scriptures are replete with examples where God Himself was literally looking for a sent man.

From Genesis, the scripture says that God had not caused it to rain because there was no man to till the ground. The absence of man was the lack of rain. Allow me to put it this way: the absence of a sent man might just be an obstruction of heaven's resources. There are things that need to flow that have not yet flowed. There are things that need to come that have not yet come — because heaven is shopping.

But hear me clearly: the devil never stops.

The Devil's Attempts Through Every Generation

He looks at Adam and says: Could Adam be the sent man? Let me bring the serpent. Let me try and stop him. And Adam failed woefully. He moves again and says: Probably it might be Abraham. He causes Abraham to lie. Abraham lied, and Satan congratulated himself — it can never be him. Then it might just be Isaac. Continue the lie from where your father stopped. He lied again. The devil said it can never be him.

This is me trying to tell you — if you are the sent man, the devil will fight you. If the Lord has commissioned you for any assignment...

Then comes David. God speaks very profoundly about David: he is a man after my own heart. The devil says, that might just be the sent man. And then he goes for David — and David falls. And Satan congratulated himself again.

But God had something in mind that would solve the problem permanently. He decided He would no longer look for righteousness in them — which they don't have the capacity to fulfill. Now He decided to give us His righteousness. 2 Corinthians 5:21. Now He can trust you to fulfill purpose. He can trust you to fulfill an assignment — not because you have all it takes, but because He made you all it takes.

The Righteousness That Qualifies You

Romans 8:30: Whom He did predestine, them He called. And whom He called, them He justified. Whom He justified, them He glorified. What shall we say to these things? If God be for us, who shall be against us?

We have not just been predestined. We have been called. We have been justified. We have been glorified. The righteousness we have is not of ourselves.

Now is come salvation, strength, the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ. For the accuser of our brethren is cast down — the one that accused them day and night before the Lord. There is nothing to accuse anymore because they wear righteousness as a garment. The blood of Jesus speaks better things than the blood of righteous Abel. The blood of Abel speaks vengeance. But the blood of Jesus is still speaking mercy. The blood of Jesus did not just forgive your past. It forgave your future.

You are not going to tell God you are weak. He said: I took note of your weakness in My blood. You are not going to tell God you can't do it. He said: I knew you couldn't do it, and that is why I came and died on the cross.

Galatians 2:20: I am crucified with Christ. Nevertheless I live — yet not I, but Christ lives. So this is how you become a sent man, not afraid of failure — because Christ in me, the hope of glory. You are not asking: Will I fail like Moses? Will I fail like Samson? He said: I already sent you. All your failures, I failed them for you. The passion of God is that what I did on the cross will never be ridiculed.

The Sent Man as a Threshing Instrument

Isaiah 41:14-16: Fear not thou, O Jacob, and ye men of Israel — I will help thee, saith the Lord, and thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth. Thou shalt thresh the mountains and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff. Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away — and thou shalt rejoice in the Lord, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.

The idea of threshing. When John the Baptist was speaking about Jesus, he says: I baptize you with water, but the one coming after me is going to baptize you with Holy Ghost and fire. A threshing instrument does not look for the grain — the grain is already there. The instrument just separates it. The sent man doesn't create the harvest. The sent man is made into an instrument that releases what God has already prepared.

And the Lord says to the sent man: I will make thee. He doesn't say: go and make yourself. I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth. Heaven makes the instrument. Heaven commissions the assignment. And the sent man — clothed in imputed righteousness, empowered by the blood that keeps speaking — goes forth and the mountains are threshed small.

You are the sent man. You are the sent woman. Heaven has been looking for you. The blood of Jesus has qualified you. Go and thresh the mountains.

"One symptom of backsliding is that you begin to look down on the simple things that keep you on fire, calling a devotional 'just milk.' It's not about the information, it's about the consistency."
