From Moses to Joshua: Deliverance Isn't the Same as Establishment

The fathers of the faith operated like Moses — confronting the powers holding people captive so they could be set free. But the emerging season, described prophetically as the "Joshua generation," is concerned with something different: establishing people who are already free. Being free is one thing; being established in that freedom is another — and the two don't automatically go together. Salvation is one thing, discipleship another; not everyone who left Egypt was equipped to actually function once they reached the promised land.

Joshua didn't look like a stereotypical prophet — no rod, no distinguishing robe, dressed like any ordinary soldier. More spiritual leaders in the coming season will look "ordinary" by old standards — bi-vocational, visible in business or media rather than only behind a pulpit — and that will confuse people who expect anointing to always look the same way it used to. Where Moses's ministry emphasized deliverance and miracle, Joshua's ministry was about literal, tangible inheritance — leading people into land, and then dividing it among them in practical, material terms, not just spiritual language.

How You Handle Money Is a Spiritual Matter

Being irresponsible with money isn't merely a practical shortcoming — scripture treats it as a spiritual issue. He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much — how you handle what's currently in your hand is part of what determines what you're trusted with next, spiritually and practically alike. It's a spiritual problem to squander everything you have, to consistently lack, to never be in a position to give or to multiply what's been placed in your care.

Any wealth that can be seen has already been spent — what you're actually looking at is an expense, not a person's real wealth. Comparing your current position to someone else's visible spending, rather than to their actual position, is a losing game before it even starts.

Practical Wisdom: Diversify and Don't Despise Small Beginnings

Ecclesiastes 11:1-2 — "cast thy bread upon the waters... give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth." Scripture itself teaches diversification — spreading resources across several places rather than concentrating everything in one, since no single outcome is ever fully guaranteed. Deuteronomy 8:18 — remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives the power to get wealth.

Time and compounding interest are themselves spiritual principles at work in the financial world — it is genuinely easier to go from a modest sum to a much larger one than people assume, given enough time and consistency, the same way spiritual growth compounds slowly before it becomes visible. People with limited individual resources who pool them together in trust can accomplish what none of them could reach alone — ten people combining smaller amounts into a shared structure, each holding a proportionate share, rather than each trying to build something significant entirely in isolation.

Righteousness Includes Leaving Something Behind

A man who had lived for decades on the ongoing return of investments his late father made, along with his siblings and mother, was offered as a picture of quiet, practical righteousness — not primarily spiritual language, but responsible stewardship whose fruit outlived the one who planted it. Be smart with your resources — righteousness and financial wisdom were never meant to be separate categories.

Inspiring Quote

Sermon

"One symptom of backsliding is that you begin to look down on the simple things that keep you on fire, calling a devotional 'just milk.' It's not about the information, it's about the consistency."
