Confrontation: A Trigger For The Anointing

Judges 14:5-6

A young lion roared against Samson, and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and he tore it as he would have torn a kid, though he had nothing in his hand.

  • We did not hear of the mighty arrival of the Holy Spirit on Samson until the lion roared.
  • David was not called king until he was confronted by Goliath. He had already been anointed, but he did not manifest until the confrontation came.
  • Confrontation provokes the release of power. In every fresh battle, there is a fresh mantle.

Testimony: The Land Grabbers

Demonic land grabbers came with bulldozers on a Sunday morning to claim a church building that was almost ready for dedication. God's servant decreed judgment on them instantly. Within a week, the youth of the community rose up against the agents and began burning their property, and the land grabbers turned on each other. Their tyranny ended.

"The things that came to stop you are actually the things that came to step you up." The devil sent it to stop you, but God is using it to step you up. That challenge came to shift you from the ordinary to the extraordinary, to shift you to your destiny.

Assignment

  1. Refuse to give up when you are confronted.
  2. Make demands on the release of the mantle to handle every battle.
  3. Engage the word in the midst of confrontation.

The Blessing Covenant, Part Two

Deuteronomy 8:18, Deuteronomy 28:1-2

  • God is a covenant keeping God. Psalm 25:10, Psalm 105:8-11
  • Covenant is universal in applicability, tied to day and night. Jeremiah 33:25-26
  • Covenant is reliable and unbreakable.

There are covenants on earth: employment, marriage. A wife under a genuine marriage covenant should not need to beg her husband to fulfill his obligations. But covenant carries obligations on both sides; if a wife becomes insubordinate, or a husband becomes unloving, it affects what the other can carry out.

In the covenant of blessing, God asks what a person has done to fulfill their portion of the covenant. These are the covenant details.

Ten Keys To Accessing the Blessing

  1. Upright living

    Psalm 24:3-5, Isaiah 33:15-16

    • He that has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted his soul to vanity nor sworn deceitfully, shall receive the blessing from the Lord.
    • He that despises the gain of oppression, will not take bribes, and shuts his eyes from evil shall dwell on high.
    • You cannot falsify documents, live crookedly, and still expect God's blessing.

  2. Receiving and obeying the word of God

    Joshua 1:8, Revelation 1:3

    • Put the word in your heart and in your mouth, and use it to make decisions in your office and your business.
    • Blessed is he that reads and hears the words of this prophecy.

  3. Being a giving covenant practitioner

    Proverbs 3:9-10, 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, Hebrews 7:8

    • Honor the Lord with your substance and the first fruits of your increase.
    • He who sows sparingly reaps sparingly; he who sows bountifully reaps bountifully. God loves a cheerful giver.
    • Tithes and offerings are received by the One who is watching. Do not bring money from corrupt sources.

  4. Being a blessing

    Genesis 12:2-3, Acts 20:35

    • What a man sows he shall reap. It is more blessed to give than to receive.
    • Ask yourself: are you a blessing to your generation, or a burden? An asset, or a concern?
    • Make up your mind to be a generational plus factor, someone people want to be around.

  5. Accessing the blessing of the less privileged

    Proverbs 22:9, Proverbs 21:13, Psalm 72:10-15

    • He that has a generous eye shall be blessed, for he gives his bread to the poor.
    • He who stops his ears at the cry of the poor will himself cry and not be heard.
    • The cry of the less privileged is a ladder for your own blessing. Every time God brings a stranded person your way, it is an opportunity to touch your own life.

  6. Accessing parental blessings

    Ephesians 6:1-3, Genesis 37:2-3, Proverbs 30:17

    • Honor your father and mother, the first commandment with a promise, that it may be well with you.
    • What differentiated Joseph from his brothers was a parental impartation, symbolized by the coat of many colors.
    • While your parents are alive, honor them and let them release their blessing on you. If they are gone, God Himself is your Father.
    • The eye that mocks a father or despises a mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick out. It may not be a physical eye, but a spiritual one, and with it your destiny.

  7. Accessing priestly and prophetic blessings

    2 Chronicles 20:20, Matthew 10:41

    • Believe the Lord your God and you shall be established, believe His prophets and you shall prosper.
    • How you receive the prophet over your life affects the profit of your life.
    • Allocate heavy respect to the people God has placed ahead of you.

  8. Accessing the blessing of hired servants

    1 Kings 10:8, Deuteronomy 24:14-15, Jeremiah 22:13, James 5:1-4

    • The queen of Sheba said, "Happy are these thy servants." Part of what made Solomon great was that his employees were happy and fulfilled.
    • Do not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy. Give him his wages the same day; do not let it go to the next day.
    • Withholding an employee's pay, or eating their allowances, is not favor, it is a curse that can extend to your children.
    • Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness and uses his neighbor's services without paying him.
    • The wages you kept back by fraud are crying, and the cries have entered the ears of the Lord.

  9. Commitment to kingdom service

    Malachi 3:17-18, Psalm 35:27

    • A day will come when God will clearly discern between him who serves Him and him who does not.
    • Serving God in soul winning and in the kingdom qualifies you for the blessing. You are not wasting your time; you are positioning yourself.

  10. Commitment to diligent labor

    Proverbs 10:4

    • He becomes poor who deals with a slack hand, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.
    • There are people sitting down praying for roasted chicken to fly into their mouth. It does not work that way.

Inspiring Quote

Sermon

"One symptom of backsliding is that you begin to look down on the simple things that keep you on fire, calling a devotional 'just milk.' It's not about the information, it's about the consistency."
