Apostle Arome Osayi Preaching - Surviving the Cosmos in an Age of Confusion
Sermon

lightbulb Message Summary - Key Nuggets

  • Jesus deliberately withheld certain truths because the disciples lacked the capacity to bear them — truth is distributed according to spiritual stature.
  • The Holy Spirit represents a new era of divine administration — not a new message, but a new teacher whose methodology demands your full recalibration.
  • Without spiritual capacity, revelatory intelligence becomes destructive — you must be built to handle what you know.
  • Surviving the cosmos in a confusing age requires growing in spirit capacity so the Holy Spirit can lead you into all truth.

Truth is Given According to Capacity

John 16:12-15 — Jesus said, "I have yet many things to say unto you, but you cannot bear them now. When he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth. For he shall not speak of himself, but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak, and he will show you things to come. He shall glorify me, for he shall receive of mine and shall show it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine; therefore I say that he shall take of mine and shall show it unto you."

Jesus was speaking about a new era — a new actor who would take the stage in the administration of the purposes of God. He was making an attempt to show us the difference between his era and the era about to come.

He had a limitation — not a limitation of utterance, but a limitation of audience. Jesus does not say things because he has utterance. He says them because the people he is talking to have the capacity to hear them.

Imagine a prophet who will only speak to those with sufficient capacity to handle what he reveals. A woman once found access to such a prophet through a chance encounter. He gave her accurate revelation — but he did not have time to explain how to use what he revealed. She left that encounter and started a civil war. It would take Jesus himself to solve that civil war because the prophet gave revelations without scanning to see if the woman had the capacity to handle it.

Jesus will rather keep quiet and not arm you with intelligence until your capacity is built to be able to handle it.

So he expressed this frustration: "I have so many things to say to you. But I have measured your capacity, your stature in the spirit — and it would be counterproductive to say what I want to say in view of your obvious limitation."

A New Lecturer in the Same Course

In university, a lecturer once went on sabbatical and a replacement was sought. The replacement had five master's degrees in treacherous disciplines and a doctorate of science from Germany. He took a largely theoretical course and transformed it into a highly mathematical course. The course content had not changed — but the lecturer had. Because they could not understand this new lecturer, most students could not make it in that course.

What Jesus was attempting to do was to introduce a new lecturer — the Holy Spirit. The course content has not changed: the eternal purposes of God remain. But there is a new lecturer whose methodology, whose perception, whose ideology operates at a different level. What you used to do — studying the notes of your predecessors — amounts to nothing when the lecturer has changed.

The Holy Spirit is not here to repeat what Jesus said. He is here to take what Jesus said into dimensions that your current level would never have handled.

The Spirit of Truth and the Cosmos

He is called the Spirit of truth — not merely a spirit of comfort or gift, but specifically the Spirit of truth. In an age of confusion, what you need most is not more information. You need someone who can guide you into all truth — someone who knows the full scope of what God has for you and has the skill to bring you into it according to your current capacity.

"He shall not speak of himself — whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak." The Holy Spirit is not freelancing. He is tethered to the Father. He does not operate on his own preferences. He takes of the things of Christ and shows them to you. He is your guide through the cosmos.

The cosmos — this world system — is constructed to confuse, to misdirect, to overload. It operates on the frequency of the knowledge of good and evil: self-dependence, self-definition, independence from God. The man who ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil became a man who believed himself to be the God he was looking for. That is the spirit of the cosmos — and it is multiplied in this age.

Growing into Capacity

Surviving in this age is not a matter of spiritual technique — it is a matter of spiritual capacity. Capacity is what determines what truth you can receive, what assignment you can carry, and what environment you can thrive in.

  • No fish can grow larger than the body of water it lives in.
  • You do not find sharks in small streams.
  • You do not find lions in open fields — you find them in forest.

When you expand, God fulfills. The Spirit of truth cannot show you things to come that exceed your current capacity to handle. Your role is to grow — to pursue the things that build your spirit man so that the Spirit of truth has more of you to work with.

2 Peter 1:4 — we are partakers of the divine nature. This means there has been a shift from the plane of human life into the plane of divine life. You now have access to a consciousness that was not there before. And it is through this consciousness — the consciousness that the Holy Spirit brings — that you are able to see and navigate what others are blind to.

The moment you are born again, there is a consciousness in your vessel that Satan works overtime to suppress, discredit, and replace with confusion.

This is the age of confusion because Satan knows that the Holy Spirit has been released to guide you into all truth. He works to ensure that your spirit remains under-developed — that you remain at a level where the Spirit of truth cannot yet reveal what he has for you.

He Will Show You Things to Come

One of the specific promises attached to the ministry of the Holy Spirit is this: "He will show you things to come." In an age where everything is shifting — politically, economically, spiritually — the ability to see what is coming is not a luxury; it is a survival tool.

The Holy Spirit is not limited to reacting to your circumstances. He is commissioned to show you things to come so that you arrive at the future prepared. He glorifies Christ — and in glorifying Christ, he makes available everything that the Father has deposited in Christ.

Surviving the cosmos, then, is not about earthly strategy or religious routine. It is about developing a spirit that can receive what the Spirit of truth has been commissioned to reveal. He has an entire curriculum prepared for you — things that Jesus himself had to withhold because the disciples could not bear them. Your job is to grow into the capacity to receive them.

Sermon

"One symptom of backsliding is that you begin to look down on the simple things that keep you on fire, calling a devotional 'just milk.' It's not about the information, it's about the consistency."
