The Spirit of Might
Isaiah 11:1-3, "And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse... and the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord... and shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord."
The spirit of might is the operation of the Holy Spirit that empowers a believer. It is not ordinary human energy — it's heaven's empowerment upon a man, divine enablement that causes a man to function beyond natural ability. Not by might, not by power, not by intelligence, beauty, size, or grades, but by the Spirit. There are assignments God gives that human strength cannot carry.
Acts 1:8, "ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you." Power to become — not power to sit or be idle.
What happens when the spirit of might comes upon a man
It gives the ability to accomplish difficult things
Exodus 35:30-35: the Lord called Bezalel, an ordinary artisan, and filled him with the spirit of God in wisdom and understanding, in all manner of workmanship, to design and work in gold, silver, and bronze, and to teach others. The tabernacle, a major and exacting project, was completed beautifully because the spirit of might rested on the workers.

Readsermonscommunities for daily nuggets and new sermon alerts.- Sometimes you're faced with an assignment and think, "I can't do this." When the spirit of might comes upon you, you do it with ease, and can even look back and wonder, "Was I really the one who did this?"
You experience boldness and courage — fearless courage
Psalm 27:1, "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" A goliath can be any big step you haven't been able to take, or anything that makes you feel timid.
2 Timothy 1:7, "God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." When fear becomes a pattern and a stronghold, dominating and overshadowing you, it has become a spirit — and that spirit is not from God.
Signs you're under the influence of fear:
- Anxious about the future, expecting negative outcomes with no evidence
- Restless, trouble sleeping, imagining threats that aren't there
- Always wanting validation, afraid of disapproval, adjusting the truth or compromising your values just to be accepted
- Making excuses rooted in what your parents or past said about you, unable to embrace compliments
- Lack of peace, even when circumstances are otherwise fine

2 Corinthians 10:5, "casting down imaginations... and bringing into captivity every thought." Anything that has not been planted by God must be cast out.
There is a peace in pressure — Paul and Silas sang praises while locked in prison. Even when their chains fell off, they didn't run.
Joshua 1:9, "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."
You become visible — noticeable
1 Samuel 16:13-23: Samuel anointed David, and the spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. Later, Saul's servant recommended David to the king, describing him not just as skilful and handsome, but that "the Lord is with him." When David came and stood before Saul — before he had even played the harp for him, before doing the assignment he was sent to do — Saul loved him greatly and he found favor.
- When the spirit of might is upon a man, people notice you before you've done anything. You don't have to be liked — there's something you carry that can't be ignored. Don't be angry when you're not noticed; there's something that makes you noticed, and it isn't your looks, your car, your clothes, or where you're from
How to receive it
By praying — praying in the Holy Ghost, giving yourself to prayer even when it isn't comfortable. "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength." Acts 1, "tarry... until ye be endued with power from on high."
Prophetic ministration followed, with declarations released over individuals in the room: breaking timidity, oppression, and fear rooted in the past; garments of limitation and debt removed; deliverance from marine-spirit and wrong marital ties; release from generational patterns of premature death; a released season of increase, divine speed, and financial breakthrough; several ministers identified as being pulled out of obscurity into national influence; a group of twelve singled out for a coming sudden shift and testimony.
Healing session
Prayer was made against sickness in the body — deafness, dumbness, arthritis, asthma, migraine, breast lumps, skin conditions — with an invitation for anyone healed to come forward and testify.
Father, we trust you because you alone can do what you can do. Healing is the children's bread, so we come adoring you in expectation, knowing that healing will flow. Every pain, every infirmity in the body is out in Jesus' name.
A stream of testimonies followed, including healing from: chronic breast pain and lumps (several, some previously scheduled for surgery), kidney infection pain of over a year, eye defects and impaired vision (some 8-18 years standing), waist, back, and spinal pain, migraines and chronic headaches, gastric infection, skin rash and itching, body odor, yeast infection, genital fungal infection, and restored menstrual flow after 10 years.
Altar call
An invitation was given for anyone who wanted to accept salvation to come forward.
Father, I call your name. I receive the gift of your salvation. Through dying the cross of Calvary, you exchanged my sin and gave me a life of righteousness. I am saved, free from guilt, free from my past, free from sin, to live this life of righteousness in Christ Jesus. I will live for men to see Christ in me, in the name of Jesus.
