3 things the Bible says to do in the days of your youth
- Bear your burden in the days of your youth, paying the price for your career while you have the energy.
- Know the Lord in the days of your youth, since knowing God early affects every other decision you make.
- Marry the wife of your youth, so you can grow together and your children can learn your craft.
Getting married at 40 is not the days of your youth. Everything about you begins to change after 40, so that is not the time to start a new venture. You should be established early enough to grow with your children and pass things to them.
What a single man actually needs to get married
None of it is money. Statistically, married men make more money than single men, because marriage forces them to. A single man can survive on noodles; a married man has to provide, and once he sets his mind to it, the resources come.
Direction
- Where are you going with your life? A woman is a helper, so she needs to know what she is helping you do.
- Women can smell purpose. It is easier to find a woman willing to build with you than to compete for one who has already made it with someone else.
- Chasing flashy women financed by someone else is not for you. Look for a godly woman who still has parents and a good pedigree.
Vision
- Direction is where you are called to go; vision is how big you see yourself doing it.
- He told his wife, while he still only had an OND, that they would fly around the world business class. She had a master's degree, but shared his vision.
Passion
- Real passion for what you do draws people, the same way confidence makes investors write big checks to founders they just met.
- Never tell a woman "I don't have" or "I don't know." Talk about your purpose, not your lack.
- His first gift to his wife was a barely-working phone, but he never approached her with pity. Speak with confidence, even before you have it.
Knowledge
- Have real knowledge of the field or area you are pursuing.
Emotional intelligence
- Women are largely emotional beings; meet them at that emotional point, not just the material one.
- Be mindful of how you present yourself when you are with her and her friends, since you represent her too.
- A woman's first reaction is often caution. Do not be discouraged by it. As you show yourself caring and consistent, her answer can change.
