The Ministry of the Word

The ministry of the word, for it to be efficient and to produce in the life of the believer, must capture four areas:

1. Doctrine — to give you a strong doctrinal foundation.
2. Principles of the Kingdom — Matthew 13:11, it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom.
3. Wisdom for Living — it empowers you to operate within the cosmos intelligently and efficiently.
4. A Word-Compliant Worldview — so that you are able to assess your world from the lens of scripture.

The entire scope of the ministry of the word is to help build the believer along these four areas. The Bible says they heard the word just as we did, but the word did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

Defining Transformation

In helping people grow, language matters. It is important that you define language and help to structure the meaning of words. One of the things preachers take for granted is the assumption that because they understand what they are saying, those who hear them also understand. Language unifies understanding.

Transformation is a thorough and sometimes dramatic change in the form, appearance, nature, or character of something or someone, to produce an improved or superior version of it.

As it concerns those in the faith: Transformation is the process that evolves or transits a believer to become and manifest like Christ in experience.

It comes from the Greek word metamorpho, which means to transfigure, to change nature, to change state. The best example is how an insect transits from egg to larva to pupa to adult — the same insect, but with features captured at each stage that were only potential in the egg.

Transformation occurs at two levels:

• Personal transformation — where you are changed from within.
• Territorial transformation — where your environment now changes to reflect what has happened within you, and you become a catalyst or agent of external change within or around your territories.

The Journey from Infant to Witness

All men are of the sin nature by default. Nobody inherits salvation by default. Through the hearing, believing, and receiving of the life of God through the gospel of salvation, a translation happens — from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of God's dear son. However, when you come into Christ, you are called a babe. That means although you are in Christ, you are an infant.

The Bible says, 1 Peter 2:2, as little babes desire the sincere milk of the word, that you may grow. For as long as that heir is a child, he defereth not from a slave, even though he be lord of all. That you are saved is only the initiation of the process, not the totality of your experience.

Transitions are possible from that point to become a more efficient and effective believer. The harvest can be 30-fold, 60-fold, or 100-fold. This defines the various experiences of believers. One can operate at a 30-fold dimension of spiritual reality; another at a 60-fold; yet for another a 100-fold.

Transformation is the name given to that journey that transits you from an infant until you become a witness. The degree to which you submit to that transformative process is what will reveal whether you will be an efficient, victorious believer, or one who will be weak and frustrated.

The price for dominion is transformation. The price for dominion is not desire.

The degree to which you submit to this process that evolves you to become like Christ in experience, to manifest the limitless possibilities of the God-life in and through you — that is what will determine whether your life will capture dominion and victory in experience or not.

Why Transformation Matters

Being saved gives us access, but transformation brings us into the experience. Salvation brings access. Access is not the same as experience. Access means the door has been opened for you to step into that experience. Being transformed brings you into that experience.

Ephesians 4:18 makes a profound statement. He says, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them — being alienated from the experience, from the favour, from the wisdom, from the dominion that comes with that life.

The possibilities of the kingdom are only attracted to a believer depending on what version of you has been cultivated. There is a version of you that cannot allow some prayers to be answered. It is inconsistent with God's character for the answer to that prayer to come to that version of you. One of the major ways God answers prayer is to take away the issue of the prayer and change the one praying, so that you evolve to a version that makes the answer possible.

Everything you are looking for in righteousness is also looking for you — but not this version of you.

Favour is looking for you as you are looking for it. But it keeps coming around and cannot find the version it was instructed to rest upon. Increase is looking for you. The reason it has not rested is because it was instructed to rest on a certain version — a more consecrated version, a wiser version, a more responsible version, a prayerful version, a more determined version of you.

You must work in partnership with the word of God and the ministry of the Holy Spirit to be engaged consistently in this transitory process until you become the version that makes dominion at peace with you, until you become the version that makes prosperity at peace.

Did you know there is a version of you that giving you money is a waste to your reality? Because your mentality and that version of you will trigger a response in the spirit to interpret your lifting as an error. Technically you are at level 10 but when the blessings of level 10 come to a mindset of level one, it will alter your behaviour to reduce you back to that level.

We do not know the extent of damage we do to our destinies when we fail to submit ourselves methodically to be transformed.

Prayer was never supposed to be in isolation with the word of God. It is always been prayer and the ministry of the word. They go hand in hand. Approaching it either way in isolation leads to consequences.

The Four Steps of Genuine Transformation

Genuine transformation that ends in dominion and victory requires four steps.

1. Recognition and Awareness

   Awareness is a miracle. Coming into the consciousness that you need to be transformed is a miracle itself.

   Recognition is powerful. Not knowing the way out but knowing that the way things are now is not the will of God — that awareness is a sign your miracle has started. It is called consciousness.

   The Bible says the people that sat in darkness — to sit in darkness is to not even be aware that there is need for change. The Bible said they have seen a great light. That contrast is called differentiation, and that right there is the miracle of transformation at its infancy.

   There is what is called in optics, colour blindness — where you do not have the capacity to differentiate colours. There is a level of beauty you cannot see and appreciate. Similarly, many believers cannot contend for transformation because they are not even aware of their state of decadence and decline.

   The worst person is not just the person who is ignorant — it is the one who is not even aware that their condition should not be what it is.

   When it was time for Peter to come out of prison, the Bible says an angel came into the prison, and light shone into the prison. The point is — it was not just about chains. It was about awareness. Many are not yet aware, which is why encounters with the word are important beyond information — they start by giving you awareness.

   Proverbs 4:7 says through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with wisdom. Ask yourself intelligent questions:

   • Is this the best of me?
   • Is this the most prayerful version of me?
   • Is this the most anointed version of me?
   • Is this the most spiritually enlightened version of me?
   • Is this the greatest of my capacity in terms of the weight of the word, the glory of God, the power of God?

   No matter how great you are, there are still virgin dimensions in destiny, and it will take a transformed you to get there. Even in heaven, there is still room for more. He said, Revelation 4:1, "Come up hither" — there are still higher dimensions to get to.

   Be disciplined enough to be brutally honest with yourself when you want to grow.

   Access to Superior Information

   Knowledge is the vehicle that transits you in destiny and in the spirit.

   The Bible says in Genesis 1 that God made many lights, but he made two great lights. Even among the stars, one is different from another — not in size, but in glory. Do not merely say you have light. To what degree?

   There is a level of light that can turn night into day. There is a level of light that is barely enough for you to see. No matter how small you are, carry high-level light.

   John 1:5 says, "And the light shineth in the darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not."

   Colossians 3:16 says, let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, in all wisdom.

   Many believers are not able to rise to certain levels because the measure of light they have is not bright enough to drive out darkness. A little knowledge on prayer, a little on fasting, a little on faith, a little on grace, a little on leadership — when you put all of that together, it is like a torch light, and then they step into thick darkness and want to use that torch light.

   When you are driving at night, one of the most important components is your headlight, not the colour of your car. Whether it is a Bentley or a Rolls-Royce — if it does not have lights, that night, you are in trouble.

   Most believers do not know how to source for superior spiritual information. We must contend for light. We must kill the arrival mentality and submit ourselves to consistent upgrading. There are three ways the Bible defines that we engage with the word:

   • You study it to show yourself approved.
   • You listen to it, because faith comes by hearing.
   • You speak it.

   Isaiah 60:1–3 speaks of the brightness of your rising. Nations and kings will come not just to your light but to the brightness of your rising. There is an orientation, a level of transformation that makes these things come to you.

3. Building Conviction

   You internalize the truths you now know so that they become a functional part of you. The word epignosis is beyond awareness. Epignosis is the root word for intercourse — where you and that knowledge become one. The knowledge is not a foreign entity in you. It has become part of your life.

   When you swallow food, by the time digestion happens, it literally becomes one with you. It can move through your blood. It started in your mouth but ended in your blood. That is where conviction comes from — not trying to believe; it has become a stronghold in your mind.

   It must go past the realm of information to become a belief system. Victory can be a belief system. No matter what happens in your life, your disposition is already fixed. When things do not work the way they should, you do not suddenly change — because there is a thought line your mind cannot think outside of.

   Psychology, science, and religion agree that repetition — not truthfulness — is what creates persuasion. You repeat a lie, your mind will forget it was a lie. It will incorporate it as a stronghold. How much more the truth of God.

   The journey of conviction requires: your heart and your mouth. These are the twin combo that make this a reality.

   Confessing the word is warfare. The truth you are receiving will meet giants already in your mind — programmed from birth. There is a contention.

   2 Corinthians 10:4–5 — the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, casting down every imagination.

   Everything is built twice — first in the spirit, then in the physical. Genesis 11 — before they had even started the Tower of Babel, the Bible says God came to see the city the sons of men had built. It was already finished in the spirit.

   The presence of a demonic spirit is not as dangerous as the presence of a wrong belief system. With one confession, a spirit can leave. But it takes concerted effort to break down the walls that wrong belief systems have built. This is the reason why false teaching is worse than false prophecy.

4. Application and Conformity

   John 13:17 says, "Now that you know these things, blessed are you if you do them."

   They heard the word just as we did, but the word did not profit them, not being mixed with faith. What is faith? The name given to your action of obedience as proof that you believe God and trust in the integrity of his word. Faith is beyond believing — believing is part of the process of faith. Many people say they are believing God, and they are honest — but it never manifests. It is not faith that is coming. It is faith that has arrived that brings miracles.

   Many believers would have their lives changed if they made up their minds to apply the truths they learn. Every time you finish a service going home, you must obtain the doing grace — there is such a thing as the enabling grace, the capacity to do.

   Transformation cannot happen until you apply the truth. When you hear that the fervent effectual prayer of a righteous man avails much — knowing it and cramming the verse is profitable but not enough to bring dominion until you actually engage. When you hear scriptures like 2 Timothy 3:15 — from a child thou has known the holy scriptures which are able to make thee wise — knowing it, quoting it, even preaching it does not bring victory.

   Servants of the living God must obtain grace to also do the word while they teach it. The result will not come from teaching it — it will come from being practitioners of the same. If we teach giving, we must give. If we teach prayer, we must pray. The doing part is what distinguishes sharers and knowers from those who become possessors of that reality.

   Joshua 1:8 says, "This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do — not just observe to think, not just observe to say, but observe to do. Then thou shalt make your way prosperous."
