Acts 13:36
For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, he fell on
asleep and was laid unto his fathers and saw corruption.
Living the life that counts for time and eternity
David served his generation by the will of God, then he fell asleep. Our objective is to
understand the meaning of the life that counts, and the secrets of the life that counts.
- The purpose of life is the life of purpose. Life that is not lived on purpose is not meant to be lived at all
- Nobody is permitted to sleep the sleep of death until they have served God's purpose in their generation
The tragedy of life is that young people have time but don't know what to do with it,
while old people know what to do with time but no longer have the time.
What it means to live the life that counts
It means living a life that matters
Your life matters to God, to your family, to your generation, to eternity. Matter is
anything that has weight and occupies space. You live a weighty life, a life that
occupies space on earth.
It means living not just to be counted, but to count for something

not just to be counted on a roll. Those who are counted are plenty, but those who can be
counted upon are few.
It means an existence that made a difference, not just a living
Not just living for personal achievement, but for generational empowerment. A generation
felt something because you existed and because you passed.
Existence such that your presence and impact are undeniable, and your absence and vacuum are unmistakable
People may hate you but they can't deny your presence and your impact. When your
presence is not felt, your absence will never be noticed, and your presence was never
needed. There are many leaders whose presence is not needed because it was never felt.
Living until your results live beyond you
You lived beyond your season, beyond your time. Your results and your impact live
beyond you.
The secrets of living the life that counts
Living a life that counts for time and eternity is not about achieving things on earth
and finding yourself in hell. It is relevant life on earth with God, and still relevant
in eternity.
Heart for God
David was able to serve his generation because he had the heart for God.

Psalm 63:1-2, Psalm 42:1-2, Psalm 27:4
The best time to serve the Lord is the days of your youth, before your life comes under
the pressure of many things. Ecclesiastes 12:1
The decision to be different
David decided to be different from his brethren. You will never make a difference until
you are different. Joseph was also different from his brothers. Genesis 37:2
- To make a difference, you must be different
- To stand out, you must take a stand, even if it means standing alone
Those who follow the crowd are lost in the crowd because they are afraid to be different.
The acceptance of responsibility
David accepted the demand of duty over his father's flock when nobody else would tend
it. Accepting responsibility means:
- Embracing what others avoid
- Filling in the gaps others neglect
- Being proactive instead of reactive, taking the initiative instead of waiting for
someone else to move
Responsibility is the platform for authority and the seed of opportunity. Nothing is
possible until somebody is responsible. Goliath was only killable when David became
responsible to pull him down.

The Life That Purpose Built
by Apostle Emmanuel Iren
arrow_forwardDavid was serving his father's flock and serving his brothers, not existing like a boss
or a master. God does not anoint masters, he anoints servants. The person who is humble
enough to serve today will be great enough to lead tomorrow. The certificate of
leadership is received in the university of servanthood. People who are full of
themselves are empty of people.
Submission to godly authority
David was submitted to the authority of his father, whether it is parental, career, or
spiritual authority. No rebel has a future. Even Jesus submitted to the authority of
John the Baptist for baptism, and Moses submitted to the authority of Jethro, his
father-in-law.
Existence in consecration
Consecration means separation. When Samuel came to anoint a king, David alone came
clean and was anointed on the spot while his brothers needed to be consecrated first.
1 Samuel 16:4-6
Consecration means separation from ungodly lifestyle and ungodly company. Your
consecration is key to your manifestation and to impartation.
The development and deployment of life's potentials
Anything God has put in you, pull it out. Your gift is your lift in life and destiny. A
man's gift makes room for him and brings him before great men. David became the most
skilled instrumentalist in Israel because his instrumentation was the worship of
Jehovah. Learning is a lifetime assignment, not a certificate to stop at. You keep
developing and deploying your potential so that you are equal to the opportunity when
it comes.
Vision and passion for the cause of God
What you see is what you seize. What does not cross your mind will not cross your life.
When David saw Goliath, he asked, "Is there not a cause?" Vision generates the action
that translates into motion, which accelerates toward a destination. No goal, no go.
Vision and passion will make you confront risks and dare hazards, but will bring you a
victory that cannot be deleted.
- Lord Jesus, I am a sinner in need of your help. Come into my life. Make me a new
person. Today I have decided to follow you, Jesus. No turning back. From today forward
ever, backward never. Thank you, Lord. In Jesus' name, amen.
Altar ministration
An altar call was given for salvation and for deliverance from besetting sins such as
masturbation, pornography, smoking, drinking, lying, and fraud. Testimonies of healing
followed at the altar, including:
- Knee conditions and knee pain of several months healed instantly
- A breast lump and breast pain dissolved and disappeared during prayer
- Leg pain and paralysis symptoms healed
- A child's hernia pain that had persisted for 5 years disappeared
