The Importance of Prompt Response
Ephesians 5:8 — those who were once darkness are now light in Christ and must walk as children of light.
John 12:35-36 — Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. Life has a lifespan. After every daybreak comes nightfall. Before night falls on any revelation, jump at it.
That is the faith of Abraham — the faith of prompt response.
Romans 4:12 says we should walk in the steps of the faith of Abraham. When the light came, Abraham entered into covenant the same day. Prompt response is one of the mysteries that makes things work. By the time you want to respond, time has passed over it and night has fallen.
John 9:4 — we must work while it is day, for the night comes when no man can work. If you want the prize, you run. You don't sit down calculating.
Somebody testified: "I stopped analyzing instructions and then things began to happen to me." Faith is not just believing God — faith is obeying God to prove that we believe him, so as to commit him to make good his promise. Obedience is the capital proof of faith. Whatever God tells you to do, do it. You do it because you believe it — and then God is committed to perform it.
Generational Breakthrough Through Obedience

Walking in the lines of obedience to God and his commandments after the order of Abraham will engender generational breakthrough. Many great names have appeared in this part of the world and disappeared without a trace — no reflection in their family lineage that they ever lived. But when you connect with this covenant-keeping God, his hand remains over your generations.
Psalm 112:1-3 — Blessed is the man that fears the Lord, that delights himself greatly in his commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon the earth. The generation of the upright shall be blessed.
There shall be no vagabond in your lineage. There shall be no drug addict, no armed robbers, no prostitutes in your lineage.
Abraham's faith secured his generations after him. We are part of that seed today. Jesus died to bring us into the blessings of Abraham. If you walk in the steps of Abraham, you have a heritage of blessing in Christ.
Legitimate Business and the Covenant
Any legitimate venture one engages in for the purpose of profit making is a business — not fraudulent business, not 419 computer scams, not drug dealing, because all those attract the curse of God. The curse of the Lord is in the house of the thief. Proverbs declares that the wicked shall not go unpunished.
There are some prayers God has said he will not answer. Every form of stealing is under a curse. Every form of wicked business is under a curse. Every soul you afflict will bounce back on your head sevenfold and on the generation after you.
One cannot give Christ the first place in his life and not experience eventual breakthroughs in return. He said to Peter, "Bring your boat." Peter responded in spite of his frustration. Within the same day — net-breaking, boats-sinking orders of breakthrough, and a change of status: henceforth you shall catch men. Peter became the pillar of the church of Christ, all by giving Jesus the first place in spite of his condition.
Without a place for Christ, the struggle continues.

Matthew 22:37-40 — Thou shalt love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. Upon these two commandments hang all the provisions in the law and in the prophets. Romans 8:28 — all things work together for good to them that love God, including their business and their ventures. All things work together for good to them that are living according to God's purpose on the earth.
Faith Delivers to the Level of Love
Please note: the reason why the faith of many people is not working is this mystery — faith works by love. Faith delivers to the level of our love for God. If God blesses any man beyond his love for him, he will use the blessing to serve the devil.
Galatians 5:6 — Faith delivers only to the level of our love for God. All the giants of Scripture — Abraham, a friend of God — love for God was their common denominator.
Song of Solomon 8:6-7 — Love is as strong as death; many waters cannot quench it, the sea cannot drain it. That is the kind of love Paul was describing in Romans 8:35-39 — who shall separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus?
Ephesians 3:17-19 — Love is in degrees: it has length, breadth, depth, and height. When that happens, you are filled with all the fullness of God, and God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all you can ask or think. That is the realm where things work on their own accord.
How Faith Grows
Faith comes by hearing and understanding the word
Romans 10:17 — faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. But faith does not respond to merely reading or listening. In Acts 8, the man was reading from Isaiah 53 and Philip asked, "Do you understand what you read?" When understanding opened, faith came alive. We must get to the point of understanding for faith to rise. Faith comes by hearing and understanding the word of God.
- Let the Philips sent your way have their access. Settle down with their resources and build your faith.
- Go and cultivate your faith — it will not grow on its own.
Faith grows by meditating on the word
David said, "Oh, how I love your law. It is my meditation all the day." Psalm 119:97. Meditation is a booster of spiritual understanding. You sit on the word to find out what it is saying to you, and when you understand it, it comes alive. 1 Timothy 4:13,15 — give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Meditate upon these things, that your profiting may appear to all. God delights in rewarding people openly.
The Conclusion of the Matter
Give God his place — he will secure your place. Give God the first place and you are heading for your first place in your endeavor.
Where you place God determines where he places you:
- Give him first place — he is committed to give you a first place.
- Give him second place — you are heading for second place.
- Give him no place — you are heading somewhere difficult.
One of the blessings of faith is that it provokes divine intervention whenever we are challenged. Faith is the only way to trigger divine intervention.
Mark 2:5 — Jesus saw their faith and said to that man, take up your bed and go. Faith is what makes the difference any day, any time — it is to everyone according to his faith.
Faith has unlimited capacity for growth. If you can believe, all things are possible. Faith brings God on the scene to make impossible things possible.
First Kings 8:15,24 — what God said with his mouth, only his hand can make happen. It takes faith to secure the hand of God to perform his word.
