Matthew 16:19

Keys of the Kingdom are Plural

Jesus said, "I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven." Notice it is keys — plural, not one. There is no one key to this kingdom. One thing you might get right, you get the other wrong and it may not work. You might have a strong life at this point and a weak life at that point. It doesn't work. But God gave you all the keys.

Binding and Loosing on Earth

Whatsoever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven. God wants you binding things here on earth. God wants you loosing things here on earth.

That authority is yours. Ephesians 4:29 says give no place to the devil. You have the authority to shut your door against the devil.

After my mother-in-law died of breast cancer, my wife showed me lumps in her breast. I was furious. That night I stood up, I faced the door of my house and said, "Satan, this is my house. To get to my wife, you have to get through me."

That is the authority to bind things on earth.

Heaven's Will Done on Earth Now

The keys of the kingdom of heaven operate on earth. Jesus prayed, "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." There is peace in heaven. There is prosperity in heaven. There is health in heaven. The Bible says there is no sorrow there.

God doesn't want you in heaven yet. Even after rapture, the Bible says he is going to create a new heaven and a new earth and we will come back. You are supposed to reign on earth. If God wanted man in heaven, he would have created Adam in heaven — but he put Adam on earth for a reason.

Luke 19:11–13 — The parable was spoken because people thought the kingdom of God should appear immediately. Many lives have been wasted because people waited idly. The kingdom of God is within you. The kingdom of God is now. You can live in health now. You can live in abundance now. You don't have to get to heaven to enjoy health.

Psalm 110:2 says, "Rule in the midst of your enemies." God wants you to rule in the midst of enemies. If you are waiting to get to heaven, there are no enemies in heaven. The Lord prepares a table before you in the presence of your enemies — right here.

The Key of Wisdom

The first key mentioned previously was the key of love. The second key is the key of wisdom.

1 Corinthians 1:23–24 — Christ crucified is to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are saved, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.

Write this down: Christ is the power and the wisdom of God. It takes power to open the door. It takes wisdom to keep it open.

Some people emphasize power and leave wisdom out. Some emphasize wisdom and leave power out. You need all the keys — the key of wisdom and the key of power.

Wisdom here is a supernatural expression of God's wisdom.

Colossians 1:14–19 — Jesus is the image of the invisible God. Jesus is the God that can be seen, touched, and saved. The Bible says we do not have a high priest who cannot be touched. In his glorified body, Jesus ate.

By him all things were created — including music. Satan did not create music. All things were created by Jesus. Satan perverted music — he did not create it. Satan perverted sex and made it pornography. Satan didn't create anything; he was created. He pervertes everything.

The only entity created in the image of God is man. Man is the only being who has authority to create anything. Only man. Satan can't create.

Colossians 2:9–10 — In him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, and you are complete in him. Jesus is the head of all principalities and powers.

Ephesians 1:21–22 — He is far above all principality, power, might, and dominion, and every name named — not only in this world but in the world to come. God has put all things under his feet and gave him to be the head over all things to the church.

Even if you are the tiniest toe of the left leg of Jesus, principalities are under you. God said, "I have put all these things under his feet." Even the least believer who says, "I am just his feet" — all the principalities of this world are under their feet.

Faith Must Stand in God's Power, Not Human Wisdom

1 Corinthians 2:5 — Your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

Paul said in verse 4: "My speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but with the demonstration of the power and of the spirit." When I came to preach at first, I didn't come with wisdom — I came with power demonstration.

However, when I stand among mature believers, Paul said, I speak wisdom. There is a level you grow to where you are already healing the sick yourself. Satan shows something in your body — you cast it out. You don't need someone to do it for you.

But when I stand before those that are still growing, I demonstrate power to draw them to Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:6–7 — "We speak wisdom among them that are perfect" — that is, the mature. "Yet not the wisdom of this world. But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom."

This wisdom is hidden. Satan didn't know this wisdom. The wisdom of God was hidden in Christ — that it would be by the death of Christ that man would be saved.

He said in the word: the wages of sin is death. The question is — whose death? Not mine. Somebody paid that death. When Adam and Eve ate the fruit, Satan was going to lure them to eat of the tree of life, so they could never die. But God needed man to be able to die — otherwise we would be like demons that cannot be born again.

By the death of Christ, man can be born again. The reason Satan cannot repent is that he cannot die. In Christ, you died. The Bible says, "I was crucified with Christ. Nevertheless I live." I died with him. I was buried with him. By death my payment can be made. But Satan has no one to die for him.

So God hid wisdom. This wisdom is hidden for us, not hidden from us.

1 Corinthians 2:7–9 — "Which God ordained before the world unto our glory, which none of the princes of this world knew. For had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory."

1 Corinthians 2:10 — "But God has revealed them unto us by his Spirit." You are not in the category of those who have not seen. Paul said, "I saw Jesus in Noah's ark. I saw Jesus in that ram caught in the thorns. I saw Jesus in Isaac. I saw Jesus in Joshua."

Joshua — the name Yahushua — was an Ephraimite, of the tribe of the mixture of Israel and Egypt, the son of the wife Joseph married. He was both Jew and Egyptian — so that Jesus could be both man and God. What Moses could not do in that the law was weak, what the first Adam could not do, the last Adam accomplished.

1 Corinthians 2:11–12 — No man knows the things of a man except the spirit of man. The things of God no man knows but the Spirit of God. And we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit of God, that we may know the things freely given to us.

These things we now speak — not in words which man's wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

Spiritual Things: Marriage and the Next Generation

I take marriage very seriously. I have a command to replenish the earth. The Bible says in your seed shall the families of the earth be blessed. You cannot be seedless. The seed of the righteous must be mighty upon the earth.

Children are spiritual to me. When that woman in scripture whose husband died — the enemy came for her children. That's her future. The enemy saw that she no longer had a man over her. Why is autism raiding our children today? It's spiritual. Your sons and daughters shall prophesy — how can they prophesy when they don't have a voice? Satan is seizing their voice. Why is the next generation of children raided with all kinds of mental disorders? We are comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

I gave my life to Christ through a cartoon — a children's book my father carelessly bought in traffic. What the priest in the bus could not achieve, what the priest in the crusade could not achieve, a cartoon did it. For the next generation, we have to be very smart.

How Is This Wisdom Expressed?

1. Wisdom Expressed Through Proffering Solutions

   Number one, this wisdom is expressed by proffering solutions and answers to difficult national, international, corporate, and human problems and questions.

   God puts wisdom in your heart to be able to proffer solutions. Daniel 1:15–20 — Daniel had solutions to the challenges the kingdom had. The person whose problem you solve will determine the weight of your reward. If you solve problems at the local level, you get local rewards. If you solve at the national level, you get national rewards. If at the international level, you get international rewards.

   2 Kings 6:8–10 — Elisha by prophecy and by wisdom was able to solve security challenges for the king. He had the king's phone number, so to speak. He said to the widow, "Would you like me to talk to the king for you?" That kind of connection came because he was solving a national problem.

   Joseph proffered economic solutions to an impending famine. He didn't just interpret the dream — he went the extra mile. There's no traffic jam on the extra mile. Nobody asked Joseph what to do — they only asked him the meaning of the dream, but Joseph went extra.

   What gave Joseph leverage was not just interpretation but solution. He said, let us save a certain percentage — he advised saving 20% per year for seven years, so that the 20% saved over seven years would sustain the nation for the next seven years. That was supernatural wisdom.

   Joseph did not pray against the famine. He prepared against it. Proverbs says a prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, but the simple go blindly on and are punished. A prudent person sees danger and takes precautions.

   People don't prepare for their lives. People don't prepare for old age. Faith is not against preparation. Wealth is built. The Bible says with wisdom is a house built — strategic, intentional, deliberate, time-bound, consistent action.

   God designed this world such that nothing destroys suddenly. Success is predictable, and so is failure. If a house is going to collapse, you will have started seeing cracks in it. God is giving you enough room as a wise man to foresee evil and hide from it.

2. Wisdom Expressed Through Witty and Creative Inventions

   Number two: witty and creative inventions in technology, media, and every field.

   Exodus 31:1–6 (NLT) — God said to Moses, "I have specifically chosen Bezalel... I have filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts. He is a master craftsman, expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze, skilled in engraving and mounting gemstones and in carving wood."

   The Spirit of God is the spirit of wisdom. Isaiah 11:2 speaks of the spirit of wisdom, witty inventions, understanding.

   The smartest brains should come from the church. It is an abomination that believers are failing their exams. You have the Spirit of God within you. You have the mind of Christ — you understand what God wrote. How can you not understand what man wrote?

   It's not spirit versus skill. We want spiritual people who are also skillful. Be a master at your craft. Whether photographer, media person, tech person, salesperson — be a master.

   Ephesians 3:9–10 — God wants to use the church to display his manifold wisdom to the principalities and powers in heavenly places. God wants to show how smart he is as Creator — and he wants to use his children to show the world what kind of Creator God is.

   If anything is coming to the world, it must come through the church. The first person to get the cure to cancer must be a Christian. The first to build the biggest architectural marvel must have the brightest mind — and the brightest minds are supposed to be in the church.

   Angels are spirits, but they don't have the Holy Spirit. There are things you know by revelation that angels can only know by observation. They have to see it to know. You know it from within.

   When you sit down and make a design from the wisdom of God, you are not stranded. Pray in the Holy Ghost and inspiration drops. You don't suffer from brain block.
