Laws and principles for success in life.

The greatest challenge in life right now is that we live in a world that can be described as chaotic. Governments do not know what to do. Leaders, whether prime ministers, presidents, CEOs, pastors, governors, or mayors, are totally confused. They do not know how to solve the problems, and they are empty of purpose.

The Source of Chaos

Chaos is as old as Genesis. Where does it come from?

Genesis 1:2 is about chaos, confusion, and darkness. The Hebrew word translated formless means out of order. The word void means confused. And the word dark here does not mean the absence of physical light. It means the absence of purpose, ignorance of purpose.

So three words describe chaos:

1. Formless — out of order
2. Void — confused
3. Dark — ignorance of purpose

Disorder means the absence of relationships. Everything is present but in the wrong location. Chaos is a sign that everything is present, but things are in the wrong place. Wherever there is darkness — ignorance of purpose — there will be disorder. Where there is disorder, there will be confusion, which means the abuse of life itself.

The solution to chaos was given in the same verse:

Genesis 1:3 — and then God said, let there be light. The first thing needed when there is chaos is the presence of God. When he comes, he brings light. That light does not mean illumination by a bulb. Darkness means ignorance of purpose. So light here means God gave everything back its purpose.

If you need proof: turn to Genesis 1:14 and you will see the creation of the sun. The sun is not created in verse 3. The verse dealing with physical light is not the same verse dealing with the arrival of purpose and knowledge.

When you are confused, you do not need prayer — you need information.

If nothing is working in your community, country, home, marriage, or business, stop and look for information. You need light to come on.

What does God do from verse 3 to verse 24? He simply puts things back in their place. Everything was already created — the water was there, the land was there, the trees were buried in the ground, the animals were in the dirt. God simply restores order.

Disorder is corrected by order, not by prayer.

The solution to our chaotic world is that we must get back to law and order everywhere.

The Foundation of Nations Is Law

God called the light day and the darkness night. When knowledge came back into the environment, everything knew where it was supposed to be. There was a complete distinction.

What is wrong with the world right now? We are living in the gray. We have reached a point where truth is determined by us. God calls this confusion and darkness. God is after clear distinctions.

God's idea has never changed. He wanted to extend the culture of heaven to earth. Jesus never preached a religion. Jesus brought a kingdom to earth, and a kingdom is a country. All nations are built on law. If you are going to build a country, the first thing you must establish is a constitution. The first thing you establish is law.

Every civilized country is built on the concept of rule of law. The law is supposed to rule, not a prime minister, not a president, not a judge. The law is supposed to be the foundation and the preserver of the nation. The first thing God gave Adam was law. God told Adam what he could do, but he quickly told him what he could not do. There is always a line.

God told Adam: the day you break the law — not me — you will surely die. You will kill yourself when you violate the law.

God did not kill Adam. Adam activated death. Death was always present but had no power to kill. But when Adam disobeyed the law, he gave life to death and death killed him.

When law is present, you do not need a judge to apply the penalty. God's laws have the penalty built in. And the positive side is that the benefits are also built in. If you keep the law, you prosper. If you violate the law, you self-destruct.

The first thing God gave Moses when building a nation out of slaves was law. Law is the foundation of any country, company, or family. God told Moses: come up to the mountain, and I will give you what this nation needs. He gave him ten fundamental laws. Brainwash everyone with these laws. If you keep these laws, I will prosper you.

Law produces, preserves, and protects the nation.

When you tamper with law, disobey law, you actually threaten the very existence of your country. What is crime? Simple: it is violation of law. When you violate law, you stop preserving the country.

The greatest challenge of all nations is lawlessness. We have become a planet without law. Now when speaking of law here, it is not the laws that we create, because whatever law we create, we can always change. This is about the divine laws of God set in motion in his very creation. We have to learn them, submit to them, study them, obey them, and experience God's promise of benefits.

• The foundation of all true nations is law.
• Nations are built on law and sustained by law.
• Social systems only exist on law.
• A nation without laws is chaos; there is no fear and no respect.

The fear of the Lord is where wisdom begins. When you are so reverently submitted to God and his law, you become wise in your behavior. Where there is no discretion, there is no fear. Where there is no fear, it is because the law has been compromised.

God himself is called the righteous judge. He is lined up with his own law. He judges based on the law. God is love — he loves everybody. But he also judges everybody. He loves, which is precisely why he can judge.

Grace Rightly Understood

The greatest problem in the church is that we have made grace more important than law. Grace in the popular church concept has become permission to do evil — a license to do wrong, knowing it can be forgiven in the morning. That is not grace. That is lasciviousness. It is the greatest evil in the New Testament: using grace to sin.

Grace is permission given the second time to do right.

Grace is mercy in action. It is mercy saying: you are supposed to be judged, but I am going to give you mercy to go and never come back here again. Grace is permission to keep the law, not to break the law.

The goal of God is that you will need no man to teach you his law, but he will write his law on the tablets of your heart. Hebrews 9. You will know on your own what it is to do right.

Psalm 119:105 — your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. That word light is the same word used in Genesis. It distinguishes between right and wrong, good and bad.

John 1:3 — through him all things were made. In him was life, and the life was the light. And that light lights every man that comes into the world. The light shines in darkness, but the darkness cannot comprehend it.

You are going to fail if you disobey the word of God. Failure is guaranteed if you disobey the laws of God. Ask God to come back and teach you his laws again. Say: Lord, show me your ways. I want to know how to live.

God told Joshua: if you keep my word, you will make your way prosperous and you will have good success.

That term good success was a challenge. Is it possible to have bad success? There are people who achieved great advancement in their careers, but the price they paid to get there cost them their children and their families. That is bad success. True success is when everything in your life is balanced and brings glory to God.

Father, forgive us for going our own way. Forgive us as nations for departing from your ways. Lord, I pray for every country represented here, that they would come back to law, come back to your ways, come back to your order.

Lord, I pray for a spirit of humility and repentance. Let us not begin this season laughing and dancing, as we are not doing well. Let us begin with supplication and humility, asking you to help us come back to our senses.

I pray for young people, that as they go forward, they would go with a sense of responsibility to you first, and to fear you again, knowing that you do judge us and will demand accountability.

We pray for every parent, that they would walk circumspect before you, because their children are watching. That they may live according to your laws.

Father, we surrender to you right now. Teach us your kingdom, Lord. We will give you all the glory. We give you thanks. In Jesus' name, Amen.
