God Wants to Prosper His People

Prosperity is good. Poverty is evil. Most evil is traceable to somebody trying to get money. There is prosperity in the gospel — the word gospel means good news, and poverty is not good news. As believers, the right framing is this: God wants to prosper His people. In Psalm 35:27, He takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servants. It is not believers trying to talk God into prospering them — He is the one who wants to prosper.

God wants to prosper His people irrespective of:

• Profession — Joseph was a slave and God prospered him.
• Location — the covenant of God works everywhere. You do not need to travel to prosper.
• Dispensation — the current economic climate is not your ceiling.
• Generation — you are never too old or too young to prosper.

For believers, why must we prosper? Because the good we can do with wealth is the motivation. The country will not change until individuals who carry kingdom values prosper. Money always directly means influence. Whoever has money has power.

God Is Your Source — Not a Vehicle

The key to kingdom prosperity is not real estate, stocks and bonds, or oil and gas. Those are vehicles God can use, but they are not your guarantee. There are people who have lost their whole life savings in real estate, in stocks. Those natural vehicles will always change. Don't get stuck on the vehicle. Don't tie your destiny or your finances to any of those things.

God is your source, and He is free to prosper you through any channel He likes. Be sensitive to what He wants to use. Don't get so attached to the vehicle that you miss the source.

The one critical failure mode of Christians and giving is removing walking with God from the equation. If you remove walking with God from things like giving, it becomes a jackpot machine — you put money in and hope for a result. You must walk with God and listen to God. Your harvest, when it is coming, will require direction. He will say: go into that business, go to that place, talk to that person. You walk with God.

Not Enough to More Than Enough

In John 6, there was a great company — about 5,000 men, plus women and children. Andrew said, "There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish — but what are they among so many?" They were in a not enough season. "What is this among so many?"

That phrase describes the experience of many:

• Bills are always more than income.
• The harder you work, the harder things get.
• You have something, but it is too small compared to what is needed.

Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks, He distributed to the disciples and to them that were sat down. When they were filled, He said gather up the fragments that remain that nothing be lost. They gathered twelve baskets full — twelve representing twelve months of the year. Every month there was something left over.

They moved from not enough to more than enough. There is a realm where after you have spent everything you need to spend, what is left is more than what you started with. The twelve baskets were man-sized baskets — the kind as tall as a person. And this was the remainder.

Guess who is in between not enough and more than enough? It is Jesus. Jesus is the person between your season of not enough and your season of more than enough. With Jesus in the equation, not enough becomes more than enough.

The Miracle of Giving

One of the key ways to unlock supernatural finance is through the miracle of giving. This is the area where every believer can be on the same level. With most other things, we cannot all be equal. But in giving, we can all engage the same principle.

A widow was going to die — this was her last food for her and her son. Elijah said: give me your last first, and the jar of oil and bin of flour did not run dry through the entire famine. Not collecting the offering from the widow would have kept her stuck in not enough. Every time God calls you to give, it is not about sustaining a man of God or the church — it is about helping you.

In Genesis 8:22, seed time and harvest shall not cease. In Psalm 126:5-6, they that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goes forth bearing precious seed shall doubtless come again rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. In Proverbs 11:24, there is that which scatters and yet increases, and there is that which withholds more than is meet but it tends toward poverty. The liberal soul shall be made fat, and he that waters shall be watered also himself.

In Luke 6:38, give and it shall be given unto you — good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For the same measure that you use to give, it shall be measured back to you. This means the measure matters. If your bills are in millions, you need to be giving in millions. The measure you give in is the measure of your harvest.

In 2 Corinthians 9:6, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Who is determining the level of your harvest? You are. If you do not like your harvest, change your seed.

Practical Wisdom for Kingdom Prosperity

In Proverbs 3:9-10, honour the Lord with your substance and with the first fruits of all your increase, so shall your barns be filled with plenty and your presses burst out with new wine.

In Ecclesiastes 11:1, cast your bread upon the waters, for you shall find it after many days.

The beautiful thing about giving is that God knows your size. Another person's giving does not cancel or limit your own. The widow who gave two mites — Jesus said she gave more than all the people who gave millions. Why? Because the measure God saw was the measure of sacrifice relative to what she had. God said she would have the largest harvest.

Giving also carries divine covering — because there are many things money cannot buy. The covering that comes on a giving person extends beyond finances to their children, their health, and their life.

I prophesy over your life — you will taste more than enough. There is a realm called more than enough and you will enter it in the name of Jesus. The days of struggling are over. The days of surviving are over. You are released into abundance. New streams of income, new channels of blessing, new opportunities to prosper, new connections — in the name of Jesus. The money that looks big to you now — in a short time, it will be chicken change to you in the name of Jesus. Amen.
