Paul and Timothy

Paul had no biological son — he was not married. But he had a son he almost took as a biological child — someone he raised in Christ. 1 Timothy 1:18 — Paul said, "This charge I commit to thee, my son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou might by them war a good warfare."

Acts 16:1 — Timothy's father was a Greek, and his mother was a Jew. A Jew is someone who loves God and believes in him. But a Greek, in the scriptural context, is someone hardened, not believing in the ways of God. 2 Timothy 1:5 — not only was his mother of God, his grandmother Lois and mother Eunice were both of God. He had a maternal lineage rooted in God. But his father's family was not.

So his mother was busy praying, but his father's foundation was busy fighting. That is what happens to many people today — the father's altar fights the mother's prayer.

Paul now told him the key: war a good warfare by your prophecy.

My Prophecy, My Destiny

Before you came to this world, a prophecy came ahead of you. The only reason God allowed you to be born was because before you were born, he already prepared a plan. God will never allow any mortal to come to this world who has no plan for his life.

Every phone has been tested before it reaches the market — it was used by the company, wiped, and sealed with a warranty that says: this is working. That is how you were in heaven. You were tested. You were working. God checked you. You prospered. Then he put you back as a little seed inside a man, connected you to a woman, and made sure you came to life to fulfill what you were.

Jeremiah 1:5 — "Before I formed thee in thy mother's womb, I knew you, and I ordained thee as a prophet." Before you came to this world, God tested you, you were working, and he placed you here to fulfill what you were. That is called prophecy — it is a blueprint of your actual footprint. It is God's original plan before you were ever born.

Five Ways to Receive Prophecy

1. Prophecy from the Enemy

   There are enemies who are daily prophesying evil upon God's people. Nehemiah 6:12 — Nehemiah said, "I knew that prophecy was not of God, because Sanballat and Tobiah have hired him." There are people walking on the streets who are unaware that somebody is holding their photograph and making declarations, making incantations against them.

   
   
   

   Numbers 22-23 — Balak saw Israel and said, "If I let this nation go like this, they are going to become great." Israel did not offend him. All the anger Balak had was at their future — at what they would become. So he called Balaam: "Come and curse Israel for me." But God replied to Balaam: "There is no enchantment against Jacob. There is no divination against Israel."

   Everyone hired to curse you, everyone hired to undo you, everyone hired to decimate you, anyone hired to cause you pain, anyone hired to see you drown — what they sent to you, I fire it back.

2. Prophecy by Your Character

   Every life you live today becomes a return on investment tomorrow. Life is return on investment. Galatians 6:7 — "Be not deceived. Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." It is self-deceit to expect to reap something else when you sow something different. For you to live immorally and expect to end in royalty is deception.

   
   
   

   Samson was jumping from one woman to another until he met Delilah. Delilah was not a temptation — she was a terminator. Samson's life was ruined because he met the wrong person.

   
   
   

   Your character is the foundation for your destiny. Your character is the prophecy of your tomorrow. Your character is a blueprint of what you become. Lord, help my character. Hebrews 12:1-2 — lay aside every weight and sin that does so easily beset us, and run with patience the race set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

3. Prophecy from Your Family

   Joseph entered Egypt as a slave, was elevated to prime minister, received land, and relocated his entire family. 430 years later, his descendants were back in bondage — because Joseph entered as a slave.

   
   
   

   There is a prophecy of family. While some are going through battles, no believer goes through a problem — they go through training.

   
   
   

   Jacob worked seven years for Rachel. On the wedding night, he was deceived and given Leah instead. He had to work another seven years. Rachel felt cheated — that the custom and tradition were against her. But she did not understand that God was behind it. Because in that season, every firstborn was cursed. God did not want Rachel to have the firstborn. He made Leah marry first so that Reuben — who received the curse — would come from her. God preserved Rachel, and Rachel produced Joseph and Benjamin.

   
   
   

   Sometimes when you think God has abandoned you, when you think God is against you, God is actually working something. Romans 8:28 — for all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Whatever comes your way, it is working for your good.

4. Prophecy from the Mouth of a Prophet

   When the man of God looks at you and gives a declaration over your life. Genesis 49:3 — Jacob opened his mouth and cursed Reuben: "Excellency of dignity, excellency of power — you shall not excel." Reuben's life began to decimate. Then Moses came in Deuteronomy 33:6 and said, "Let Reuben live and not die, and let not his men be few."

   
   
   

   In the tribe of Reuben there were males, but no man — no king, no Levite, no priest, no prophet. Everyone there was irrelevant. There are people surrounded by males but no man — no one with authority or spiritual weight.

   
   
   

   2 Samuel 14:23 — Absalom had three sons and a daughter. But 2 Samuel 18:18 — when dying, Absalom said, "I have no son to bear my name." He had boys — but no son that was useful enough to be relevant. They were alive but worthless. He had no son.

5. Prophecy from the Word of God

   Every word of God is a prophecy. 2 Peter 1:19 — "You have a more sure word of prophecy." If God says you are healed, you are healed. If God says you are protected, you are protected. If God says a thousand shall fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand — God says it, believe it, and that settles it.

   
   
   

   At a border crossing surrounded by hostility, a consciousness settled in: I am surrounded. I am too protected to be molested. I am too secure to be embarrassed. A thousand shall fall at my side, ten thousand at my right hand — it shall not come near me. Only with my eyes will I behold and see the reward of the wicked.

Three Contentions Against Your Prophecy

1. Unbelief

   Sometimes in life, your experience will not look like your prophecy. The devil will make you start asking yourself, "Does God really care for me?"

   
   
   

   A young girl screamed in a congregation: "Tell God to kill me. I can do everything — I can cook, bake, make hair, sew clothes, fix things — but I still beg to feed." There are people who have come to the point where the enemy wants them to stop believing what God has said.

   
   
   

   While ministering in Europe, the Lord called out a lady by name, mentioned her father's name and her siblings. She began to cry. She said: "So God knows me." There are people who have come to a point where something in them says there is a God — but their situation tells them there is no God.

   
   
   

   Mark 9:22-24 — A man brought his demon-possessed son to Jesus. As soon as the demon saw Jesus, it threw the boy on the floor and made him violent. Before Jesus came, the boy was quiet — but the proximity of Jesus caused the violent reaction. That should teach you something: when things are about to change, they suddenly get worse. Whenever you decide to fast and pray, that is the period you start seeing strange attacks. Because when things are about to change, they suddenly get worse.

   
   
   

   The man was honest: "Lord, I believe — but help my unbelief. I know you are my Lord, my master, my savior, but the things I am going through are shaking my faith."

   There are many who are in that condition — the only thing keeping them with God is hope. Someday, someday.

2. The Spirit of Delay

   Genesis 15:13 — God gave a word that Israel would be in bondage for 400 years. Exodus 12:40 — Israel was in bondage for 430 years. It took 430 years for that prophecy to come to pass.

   
   
   

   Joshua 6:26 — Joshua prophesied that whoever rebuilds Jericho shall lay the foundation with his firstborn and complete the gate with his lastborn. 1 Kings 16:34 — 70 years later, that prophecy came to pass.

   
   
   

   2 Kings 4:16 — Elisha said to a woman, "By this time next year you shall have a baby." One year later, the prophecy was fulfilled.

   
   
   

   2 Kings 7:1 — Elisha declared, "By this time tomorrow, a measure of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel." In 24 hours that prophecy came to pass.

   
   
   

   Matthew 26:33-34 — Jesus said to Peter, "Before the cock crows, you will deny me thrice." Six hours later, that prophecy came to pass.

   
   
   

   Isaiah 38 — Isaiah said to Hezekiah, "Put your house in order, for you shall surely die." As he was walking out, five minutes later God reversed it.

   
   
   

   I don't know if you are waiting for 430 years, 70 years, 1 year, 24 hours, 6 hours, or 5 minutes. But there is someone under the sound of this voice — in the next few minutes, everything about your life will change. Your business will change. Your finances will change. There is a change coming.

   
   
   

   Some say, "Delay is not denial." Who told you? If delay is not dealt with, it becomes denial. Exodus 32:1 — when Moses delayed in coming down, the people took gods to themselves and were killed. To them, delay was denial.

   
   
   

   Don't support yourself with motivational statements while ignoring the spiritual battle. When you see battles, confront it.

   
   
   

   I decree: the yoke of delay is broken. Everything God said about you, I see them coming to pass. Everything God said about your family, I see them coming to pass.

3. Diabolic Forces

   When Israel was in bondage in Egypt and Moses came, how could Pharaoh remain stubborn? There were people around him called magicians. They confused him. They deceived him.

   
   
   

   Moses dropped his rod — it became a serpent. The magicians laughed, because in that palace they used to turn rods to serpents for fun. So they dropped all their rods — they also became serpents. But where Moses' rod came from, they used to swallow other rods for fun. Moses' rod swallowed all their rods and did not become fatter. The magicians were turned to zero.

   
   
   

   There are occultic men who, for anything you do in the kingdom, will try to imitate and counter. But there are things the kingdom carries that their counterfeit cannot withstand.

   
   
   

   When Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, "Let us go to Mount Carmel — the God who answers by fire, let him be God" — the prophets of Baal were bold enough to follow because they were used to calling down fire. They called Baal from morning till night — cutting themselves, blood gushing. But that day, when Baal heard that the living God was at Mount Carmel, Baal traveled. There was no network. And Elijah mocked them.

   
   
   

   You must understand that Satan, while he can be called wicked and evil, is not stupid. He will raise people to rise against those with a destiny. There are people who will hate you without a cause.

   
   
   

   A pastor came with three problems: his members started coming very late, falling asleep as soon as he opened the Bible, and their finances were under attack. While praying, the Lord showed: an offering bowl, a wall clock, and a pulpit Bible. Someone had broken into the church and taken all three. The Bible was used diabolically — so that whenever the word was opened, people would sleep. The clock was taken to make people come late. The offering bowl was taken to attack the finances.

   
   
   

   There are people who have vowed that nothing good can come from your life. But they cease to exist. We log them out.

   
   
   

   As I speak right now by prophecy — many of you tonight will get a call from your hometown, your county. Those who have vowed that nothing good can emanate from your life — they cease to exist. The yoke of delay is broken. Everything God said about you and your family, I see them coming to pass.

Miracles

A man who had suffered stroke since June of the previous year, unable to lift his hands or speak — his mouth twisted to the right — while the word was being ministered, he saw his mouth being reconstructed by the anointing. The stroke disappeared. He began to speak and lift both hands.

Mama Maureen, who had not seen with her eyes for five years — while the power of God fell during ministration, her blindness vanished. She could see clearly.

A woman named Rachel with breathing problems from a rib condition was healed. A man with two failing kidneys received brand new kidneys. Three women whose wombs had been surgically removed received the declaration of brand new wombs. A man named Morris with spinal cord problems was healed.
