What Prayer Actually Produces

Prayer creates the platform for communion and fellowship with God, and provides the platform for the believer to encounter His transforming and refining power. If someone is genuinely given to a life of prayer, it refines them and transforms them into a more mature version of themselves. Prayer also builds a person's capacity to trust God, strengthening the actual muscle of belief over time, not just the words spoken in the moment.

Four Ways God Answers Prayer

• Supernatural manifestation. Healings, deliverances, and direct manifestations of God's power in response to prayer.
• Causing the one praying to grow. Some requests can't be received by the current version of the person asking. Rather than answer the specific request, God sometimes grows the person until the answer would actually be a blessing to them. Many prayer requests are really a symptom of a growth that hasn't happened yet, and once that growth occurs, the request itself often becomes unnecessary.
• Releasing the needed graces. 2 Corinthians 9:8 speaks of God making all grace abound so that a person becomes self-sufficient, needing no external aid. Favor, faith, wisdom, and capacity are all graces released through prayer, sometimes without any immediate visible result, though something real has still been deposited.
• Introducing strategic men. God often answers prayer by sending the specific people needed to carry the answer. Melchizedek arriving for Abraham, Samuel arriving for Saul, Simon of Cyrene arriving to help carry the cross: each one was the answer walking in, not simply a coincidence.

Grace works like money. Having some doesn't mean it's enough for what you actually need. Someone can carry real favor or a real healing anointing and still need more of it for a specific assignment, the same way having a small amount of money technically means having money, but not necessarily enough to buy a house.

Be Sensitive to the Person, Not Just the Miracle

It's possible for an answer to have already been released and still be delayed because the person meant to carry it has been hindered. Joseph asked the chief butler to remember him to Pharaoh, and the butler simply forgot once he was restored to his own comfort. Mordecai saved the king's life and was left sitting at the gate for years before anyone acted on it. It is a dangerous thing when the people positioned to lift someone up forget that person is still waiting. Sensitivity in prayer includes praying that the specific people carrying an answer arrive on time, not only that the answer itself is released.
