God Knows You by Name

When God speaks a word and you hear it and you know — that is your name — don't wait for it to be repeated. Come out, because God knows you by name. He knows whatever you are going through and he knows how to put it to an end for his glory. He will put your battles to an end.

The Story of the King Who Cut Off Thumbs and Toes

Judges 1:5-7 — After Moses died, God raised Joshua. After Joshua died, Israel had no captain. There arose a man — a king — who invaded and conquered 70 other nations. One man was controlling 71 nations, their wealth, their prosperity, their governance.

When he approached Israel and Israel refused to submit, he came to take them by force. The mistake he made was not knowing that Israel was not like other nations. Israel was a covenant people.

What stops others cannot stop you. What swallows them cannot swallow you. Where others fail, you cannot fail.

Israel fought him. He ran. They pursued him, caught him, and cut him. Before he died he confessed: "I have the heads of 70 kings in my palace. Seventy kings with their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathering scraps under my table. As I have done, so God has repaid me."

The Holy Spirit gave revelation on this:

• Why he cut off their thumbs: So that they could not hold anything firmly. When you lose your thumb, anything coming slips off your hand. You get opportunity but cannot hold it. Promises — you cannot hold them. Marriage — you cannot hold it. Anything that comes lifts out of your hand. There are people today who have seen many opportunities, lived in great nations, had every advantage — but something always happens and takes the opportunity from their hands. Nothing tangible stays. Their spiritual thumb has been cut off.
• Why he cut off their toes: To slow their speed. When you run, you tip with your toes. If your toe is cut off, what would have taken you one year takes ten. What you would have achieved on time takes a long time. There are people on a spot — something always brings them back to the same place. That power cut off their toe.
• Why he cut both together: To make the body incomplete. Before putting great men under the table, enemies first make them incomplete. They cannot be called successful because they cannot finish what they started. Jesus is the author and the finisher (Hebrews 12:2). He said in John 4:34, "My meat is to do the will of him that sent me and to finish it." Paul said in 2 Timothy 4, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course." God himself finished in Genesis 2:2. You are only called successful when you finish what you started.

The Testimony of the Tree

While preaching in a certain land, a vision opened: inside a great tree were hidden buildings, certificates, graduation gowns, wedding rings — all the destinies of the people of that land were locked up inside that tree. Missionaries had previously tried to cut it with physical tools, and blood came out. Permission was sought from the king — who was healed of stroke in that meeting — to pray on the tree. At 1 a.m., prayer was made: "They could not cut this tree with weapons, but tonight I knock on the door of thunder and lightning." Two days later, a wind hit the land and the tree shook. Eight months later, when the preacher returned, the king was at the entrance to receive him. After the tree went down, people began to get married, wealth began to flow, doors began to open.

There are people whose wealth is held — buried in the ground, buried in the air, buried in the atmosphere. Today that hold is broken.
