Two Foundation Scriptures

John 4:23-24 — "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth. For the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."

Romans 1:9 — "For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers."

Man is Spirit, Soul, and Body

1 Thessalonians 5:23 — There are three basic components that form man. Man has a spirit, a soul, and a body. It is common teaching that man is a spirit, but this is not what the Bible reveals. The Bible says there is a spirit in man, and the inspiration of the Almighty gives him understanding.

Luke 24:39 — Jesus himself said after the resurrection, "Behold my hands and my feet. Handle me and see, for a spirit has not flesh and bones as you see me have." A spirit does not have flesh and bones. You are not a spirit — you are a spirit, soul, and body. That kind of creature with three equally relevant compartments is called man.

The Bible makes us understand that it is the spirit component of man that God seeks when he wants to have communion. The spirit is the organ in man that is calibrated to operate on God's frequency — modified to understand the rhythm transmitted from the realm of God. God is spirit. When he comes into your realm he seeks out your spirit, because your spirit is the organ that can understand his frequency.

Worshipping in Spirit: The Organ of Communion

When God says he is seeking worshippers who worship in spirit, he is not speaking about an emotional experience. He is speaking about the engagement of a specific organ — the human spirit — which is the only part of man designed to connect with the divine.

The reason why so much of what passes for worship in church settings does not produce transformation is because it does not engage the spirit — it only engages the soul or the body.

True worship activates the spirit organ. And it is this organ that God comes to meet, fills, and responds to.

Serving God With Your Spirit

Paul says God is his witness. In the context of his apostolic service, Paul renders account to God of how he serves — and he says, "I serve with my spirit." The labors of the gospel committed to him were achieved through spirit activity.

This is foundational. Paul was an orator of great caliber, but he made a deliberate decision: 1 Corinthians 2:1-5 — "My speech and my preaching were not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men but in the power of God."

He configured his ministry in such a way that people would not depend on him but on the one he was representing — Christ. His ministry was more demonstration-based than oratory-based. This was a deliberate decision so that the faith of those who sat under him would be anchored on the power of God, not on human wisdom.

Truth Demands Spirit-Engagement to be Received

Jesus said in John 8:31-32, "If you continue in my word, then you are my disciples indeed." Truth is not given to all who believe — only to charter disciples, those who continue. You cannot receive the truth of God without the spirit being engaged, because truth is spirit-dimensional.

Many believers have been saved for years but remain at the same level because they never learned how to engage God with their spirit. They approach church, worship, and prayer as soul or body activities. But God is spirit — and the engagement must be spirit-to-spirit.

Prayer and Consecration are Inseparable

You cannot separate prayer from consecration. If you sustain a consistent life of prayer, it will result in the act of consecration. The blood of the ram of consecration in the Old Testament was placed upon three specific things: the ear, the thumb of the hand, and the big toe.

• Your ear cannot be made available to listen to just everything.
• Your hand cannot handle what you want — not everything your hand can reach is for you.
• Your feet cannot be in places God will not approve.

This is the burden of consecration God places upon the believer. Consecration is not a theological concept — it is only achievable through the conduit of consistent, deliberate prayer.

History confirms this. Men of prayer who led entire cities into the presence of God through sustained, consistent prayer — Satan fought through the ages to blot out their witness. When holy living and prayer collide, it produces something that Satan cannot manage.

The Father Seeks — He Does Not Wait

The language of John 4:23 is striking: "The Father seeketh such to worship him." The Father is not passive. He is actively seeking true worshippers. He searches for those who will engage him with their spirit — those who move from the arena of soul performance into the arena of spirit communion.

Worship is not what we do for an hour on Sunday. It is the posture of the spirit before God — available, engaged, and calibrated to his frequency at all times.

You run the race of faith by looking. The original language in Hebrews 12:2 implies that we will need to look away from everything else in order to look onto Jesus. That means we must despise every flame that Satan kindles around our lives in order to maintain focus on the one who authored salvation and manages the grace that supplies what we need.

True worship is not an event you attend. It is the orientation of your entire being — spirit, soul, and body — toward the God who is spirit, who is seeking those who will meet him in his dimension.
