Understanding the Fundamentals of Kingdom Wealth

Spiritual understanding is far removed from intellectual understanding, just as the east is far from the west.

Isaiah 55:8-11

His ways as contained in the word are far above natural ways, and His thoughts as contained in the book are far above natural thoughts. Never mistake intellectual understanding of the word for revelation. True revelation brings tears, joy unspeakable and full of glory, a kind of joy that is not found in chemistry, in geography, or in psychology.

Colossians 1:9

Spiritual understanding is not a thing to wish for, it is a thing to pray for.

James 1:5

• Lack of understanding makes a man as good as dead.
• Understanding is key both in the natural and in the spiritual. A man who lacks the understanding of how a car engine works cannot touch anything under the bonnet, no matter how long he has owned the car.

Proverbs 21:16

A man that wanders out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.

Hosea 4:6

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge, for lack of required insight, not because they have not escaped eternal destruction, but because they have not been armed here with knowledge.

Proverbs 13:15

Good understanding giveth favor, but the way of the ignorant is hard.

Our experience in the kingdom is not a function of luck. It is a function of light, of spiritual discoveries made of the truth. Understanding is key to an outstanding outcome in the adventure of life. Everything outstanding has its root in understanding.

Some read and read and read the word yet do not pass, because they have not understood it. Word readers must never assume they understand what they have read, they must get to the point of understanding.

Acts 8:30-31

Philip asked the Ethiopian eunuch whether he understood what he was reading, and he answered that he could not, except someone should guide him. So a guide is needed for understanding to come.

Matthew 13:23

In the parable of the sower, the one who receives seed into good ground is the one who hears the word and understands it, and bears fruit, some a hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. The outcome is a function of understanding: there is a grade of understanding that produces a hundredfold, a grade that produces sixtyfold, a lesser grade, and a zero grade of understanding that produces nothing.

Going for the Secret

Kingdom wealth is a reality demonstrated in the lives of David, Job, and Solomon. Solomon found the secret of God upon his tabernacle in the days of his youth, and that secret produced everything that followed in his life. Every subject of interest requires a search for its secret rather than mere prayer.

Good understanding brings favor, but the way of the ignorant is hard. Worship must end in your life, in all areas.

The Reliability of the Covenant

Heritage and financial fortune deliver only on the terms of the biblical covenant.

Deuteronomy 8:18

It is the Lord who gives the power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant.

• That covenant is generational, as long as the earth remains, unbreakable, as established as the covenant of the day and of the night.
• Isaiah 54:10 — My covenant of peace shall not be removed.
• Isaiah 34:16 — Not a jot of God's word will go unfulfilled.

Psalm 112:1-2

Blessed is the man that fears the Lord, that delights greatly in His commandments, his seed shall be mighty upon the earth, the generation of the upright shall be blessed.

Psalm 37:18-19

The Lord knows the days of the upright, and their inheritance shall be forever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time, and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

Psalm 33:18-19

The eye of the Lord is upon them that fear Him, upon them that hope in His mercy, to deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive in famine. The fear of the Lord is simply putting the word to work as a lifestyle, not phobia, not passivity.

Psalm 92:12-14

Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of God, growing like the cedar in Lebanon, bringing forth fruit in old age, to show that the Lord is upright and there is no unrighteousness in Him. To be planted means to be dedicated to the things of God, and that dedication establishes flourishing in hard times.

Storehouse Supplies for Hard Times

Philippians 4:15-19

The Philippian church communicated with Paul concerning giving and receiving from the beginning of the gospel, sending to his necessities in Thessalonica, not because a gift was desired but because their giving was a sacrifice of a sweet smell, acceptable and well pleasing to God. And Paul's God would supply all their needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

• The heavenly storehouse connects with hard times in the same way Egypt's stores, gathered over seven years of plenty, were opened up in the years of famine.
• Investments made over the years are held in reserve for rainy days, apart from regular supplies. When things go rough on the earth, the windows of heaven open.

Genuine, qualitative commitment to advancing the kingdom of God is a vital key to covenant wealth, to sustainable wealth. From wherever a person is, from the smallest level, God keeps taking that person up higher by the day.

Psalm 35:27

Let them shout for joy that favor a righteous cause, let them say continually, let the Lord be magnified, who takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.

Matthew 6:24

No man can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will hold to the one and despise the other. No man can serve God and money. Serve God with money and it will never be lacking; chase after money and it will always be sought after.

Seek first the kingdom of God. He blesses His people to enjoy living and to secure the future.

1 Timothy 6:17-19

Charge those who are rich not to be highminded, nor to trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God who gives all things richly to enjoy, that they be willing to distribute, ready to communicate, laying up in store a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. A time is coming when provisions will fail; access to eternal supplies must be secured now by being rich in good works.

Luke 12:15-21

The one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God is called a fool. The future is not secure. Guaranteed returns are not found in earthly storage.

Three Keys to Kingdom Giving

1. So in Love

   1 Corinthians 13:3

   Though a man gives all his goods to feed the poor, and gives his body to be burned, and has no charity, it profits him nothing.

   • Giving without love is unprofitable. Let love be the motivation behind every act of giving.
   • David, a man after God's own heart, was a liberal soul, demonstrated in how much he gathered for the building of the temple, out of his affection for the house of God.
   • Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings at Gibeon out of love for God, and when God asked what he wanted, Solomon did not ask for wealth, yet the wealthiest life in biblical history was added to him because of his proven love for God.

2. As a Privilege, Not a Burden

   What is sown was also given as a gift in the first place. What do you have that you have not received? Giving becomes easy the moment it is understood that what is in hand is itself a gift of grace.

   Deuteronomy 28:47

   Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joyfulness and gladness of heart for the abundance of all things, you shall serve your enemies, in hunger, in nakedness, and in want of all things.

   Giving that is treated as a burden never comes back with returns; giving must be engaged with delight.

3. Sow into Good Ground

   Deuteronomy 12:13-14

   Take heed that offerings not be made in every place, but in the place which the Lord shall choose. There is a right of choice as to where a seed is sown, and that choice matters.
