The Safety of the Same Things
Philippians 3:1 — finally my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.
The same things I taught at the beginning are the same things I am sharing now. It is not a trouble for me. Repeating the word is a safeguard for your faith. You believe what you hear over and over. Same things concerning your health. Same things concerning your finance. Same things concerning your family. The principles that make marriage work are not new. People are looking for new things, ignoring the old. It is the same thing that makes anything work that will make it work.
Even what we call inventions are just improvements on what has always been. For there is nothing new under the sun. Paul says to say these things over and over — it is safe.
Philippians 3:1 (Amplified) — my fellow believers, continue to rejoice and delight in the Lord. To write the same things again — it is no trouble for me. I am teaching you the same things. It is a safeguard for your faith, to keep you safe hearing the same thing.
I had to do faith before prayer because no matter how powerful your prayer is, if it is not on faith it is nothing.
The Lies of the Enemy When Faith Is Weak
- Lie one — that God is punishing you for your sins. God is good. He is not the one punishing you. He is not teaching you anything through sickness or consequences. The consequences of sin are often natural. If you close your eyes and cross the road, you get run over. That is why the Bible says watch — there is a reason why watch came before pray. If you watch well you may not even need to pray on many occasions.
- Lie two — that the enemy is God. The enemy is not God. Know who your enemy is.
- Lie three — you have to realize that you are a new creation and your past is settled.
Plant Your Faith Before You Need It
You have to plant your faith long before you need it. Faith is not built in the crisis — it is deployed from a reservoir you have been building. Hear the word of God consistently. Let it enter your spirit. Let it become the instinct of your inner man.
The water of God's word never changes. There is no new wave — it is the same old water that keeps coming back. Commit to hearing the same truths until they become unshakeable in you.
God Is Not Holding Anything Back
God is not holding anything back from you because of your past. For if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things have passed away. All things have become new.
I declared healing for a woman while preaching, rebuking autism and blindness. Little did I know that far away in Florida, a woman was carrying her baby. Her other child had been having problems with his eyes and was scheduled for the optician that afternoon. As they planned to go, the child said, "Mommy, I don't think I need to go anymore. I can see clearly now." The mother was screaming. This is Jesus.
There is no limit to his power. Have there been miracles in this house? Many, many. But I want your faith to be stirred. God is not holding anything back from you because of your past.
You'll be healthy. You'll be strong. God is on your side and he does not withhold.
