Making room for His presence

Exodus 33:14, God said to Moses, "My presence shall go with you, and I will give thee rest." Making room for His presence means making it comfortable for Him to dwell with us, giving Him accommodation in our lives and in the church.

The most important thing about any house of God is the presence of God, you cannot call it His house if He is not there. When Solomon's temple was dedicated, the priests could no longer stand to minister because the glory of the Lord filled the house, 2 Chronicles 5:13. If a dedication ends and everything remains as it was, it was a waste of time. Nobody ever said they went to a lecture room and got healed, or went to a night club and got delivered, that is what makes the house of God the house of God, the presence of God.

The highest compliment that can be paid to anybody is that God is with them. Genesis 39:2,21, the Lord was with Joseph. "David behaved himself wisely, and the Lord was with him." In London, a young lady of another faith once looked at me and said, "what you have, I want it," that was the presence of God, the anointing, the Holy Spirit at work.

The importance of the presence of God

1. It is key to rest

   Exodus 33:14. Even carrying a schedule of crusades and midnight prayers across cities day after day without a break, so much can be happening and yet you remain at rest, at peace, and refreshed, because the presence of God carries the load.

2. It is the secret of progress

   Exodus 33:15. Life stands still if God is not involved, but God with a man means you keep going forward.

3. It is the secret of the anointing

   God with a man is called the anointing. The more the presence of God is established around your life, the stronger the anointing you walk in.

4. It is the secret of the supernatural

   Mark 16:20, "the Lord working with them, confirming the word with signs following."

   The graces and giftings in you are unleashed. Jesus could not go about healing if God was not with him.

6. It is the secret of distinction

   2 Chronicles 5:13-14, Exodus 33:16. What demarcates the people of God from every other people of the earth is that He goes with them. This is not the regular doctor, this is a doctor with presence, a lawyer with presence, an accountant with presence, a student with presence, this is not your regular pastor, this is a pastor who carries heavy presence.

7. It is the answer to obstacles

   Psalm 114:1-8. The presence of God is an ocean divider, a sea divider, a mountain melter. Any obstacle confronted with the presence of God has no future.

Testimony: the demoness that fled

A man had been tormented by a spirit for 8 years, a spirit that would manifest and disappear at will and had an altar in his bedroom. He came for a vigil, the fire of God fell on him, and when he got home the tormentor took one look at him and reversed, saying only, "Fire, fire, fire," then packed her things and disappeared.

Requirements to make room for His presence

1. Possess the desire for His presence

   God will never grant you His presence if you are comfortable with His absence. When the ark was missing under Saul, Saul was fine with it, but David refused to be king without bringing the ark back.

2. Cry out for His presence

   Your passion determines your portion. The groaning of the spirit activates the glory of God.

3. Value His word

   John 1:1. The word of God is the same as the God of the word, your value for the word is your value for Him. Job 23:12, "I have esteemed the words of your mouth more than my necessary food."

4. Possess a heart of gratitude and worship

   God lives inside worship, worship him and he lives with you.

5. Maintain the life of consecration

   Psalm 24:1, Isaiah 59:1-2, Hebrews 12:1-2. Iniquity separates you from the Almighty, either you allow the Almighty to separate you from iniquity, or you allow iniquity to separate you from the Almighty.

6. Possess the heart of love

   James 3:16, where there is envy and strife there is confusion and every evil work. God is love, where hearts are filled with strife, bitterness, and unforgiveness, it is impossible to feel God.

7. Possess the heart for souls

   Mark 16:15,20. A soul-winning child of God is a divine presence-carrying child of God, whether at the airport, the market, or any city, souls will be won.
