Sermon

lightbulb Message Summary - Key Nuggets

  • Mercy is God's medicine — it qualifies the unqualified and gives what grace reserves, not what we deserve.
  • Every issue in life has an expiring date; the key is positioning yourself for the mercies of God.
  • When God shows mercy, it simultaneously judges the enemy and releases total healing.

The Power of Mercy

Blind Bartimaeus cried, Mark 10:47-52 — and when they tried to silence him, he cried the more. Jesus stood still and called him. He cast away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. When asked, "What will thou that I should do unto thee?" he answered, "Lord, that I might receive my sight." Jesus said, "Go thy way, thy faith have made thee whole." And immediately he received his sight.

There is no mighty man on earth — only helped men. Blind Bartimaeus understood that it is only mercy that can speak.

Mercy is stronger than forgiveness.

When you sin, you ask for forgiveness. When you ask for mercy, you are reminding God of how He created you. Anytime God sees mercy, He sees how you were formed from the earth. So God looks at you and does what He needs to do.

Mercy gives you what God reserves — not what you deserve. There are people who do not even deserve to live because of so many things they have done, but when mercy shows up, God still allows them to live.

Every Issue Has an Expiring Date

There was a woman whose issue lasted 12 years. The day she touched Jesus, her condition changed. The blind Bartimaeus was blind from birth — a foundational challenge. Yet that foundation gave way.

  • Every issue has an expiring date, but all you need is the mercies of God.
  • Hebrews 4:16 — "Let us come boldly to the throne of grace, where we can obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need."
  • When mercy shows up, favor comes. Mercy gives you what God reserves for you.

Some of us sleep at night and do not know how daybreak comes. We just wake up alive. In that unconscious state, the enemy tried their best to measure the end of your life — but God said no.

No condition is permanent.

The impotent man in John 5:1-9 waited 38 years for a solution. When Jesus stood by him and asked, "Would you be made whole?" he said, "I have no man." The Healer was standing right by him. Jesus said, "Carry your bed and go home." The man stood up, checked himself, and walked. He threw the bed away and walked to the temple — and people began to marvel.

Mercy Is God's Prerogative

Romans 9:15 — "I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy. I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion."

You cannot determine who God will show mercy to. But God is a God of mercy. In Psalm 136, He killed the Egyptian firstborn — "for His mercy endureth forever." That same mercy judged the enemy. When God shows you mercy, it judges your enemies.

  • Anytime God shows you mercy, it judges your enemies.
  • After healing, you need to testify. Your testimony silences the wickedness and makes the healing permanent.
  • When the woman with the issue of blood touched Jesus, she had proposed in her heart: "If only I can touch Him, I will be made whole."

Father, I don't know how long that condition has been. But I know no condition is permanent. As God's servant lays hands, that situation will turn around for good in the name of Jesus.

Every situation bow. That situation will bow in the name of Jesus. Whatever you have received shall be permanent. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Inspiring Quote

Sermon

"One symptom of backsliding is that you begin to look down on the simple things that keep you on fire, calling a devotional 'just milk.' It's not about the information, it's about the consistency."
