Meditate on These Things
1 Timothy 4:15 — "Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all." Philippians 4:8 — "whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." What is defeating people today is that most of their meditation is coming from social media rather than from heaven. A content creator, not the word of God, is quietly shaping the inner mind of most believers.
Job 3:25 — "the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me." Job 22:21 — "acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee." God doesn't always change the situation first — He changes what you're thinking, and the situation follows.
Isaiah 49: When You Feel Forgotten
Isaiah 49:14-16 — "Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me. Can a woman forget her sucking child... yet will I not forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands." The very next verses promise, "thy children shall make haste... they that made thee waste shall go forth of thee." Take a small set of scriptures like this and deliberately meditate on them — not as a one-time comfort, but as a repeated diet — until the truth of them, not the feeling of abandonment, becomes what actually governs your inner life.
Faith Comes by Hearing — Repeatedly
1 Peter 1:10-12 — the prophets who foretold the grace that would come to us searched diligently, and even angels desire to look into these things. Zechariah 4:10 — "who hath despised the day of small things?" though thy beginning was small, the latter end shall greatly increase — and that increase comes specifically through consistent exposure to the word: "can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?" If you are going to grow, you need those words — repeatedly, not just once. Romans 10:14-17 — how shall they believe without a preacher, and how shall they preach unless they are sent? Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God — prayer moves God to send the preacher whose words then become the water that grows the plant.
"That's Not Your Condition — Jesus Is Your Condition"
When someone insists, "You don't understand my condition," the deeper issue is often a spirit of discouragement that has convinced them their circumstance defines them. That thing telling you that you're the wrong person, that you can't make it, has to be fought directly — it isn't simply "your condition"; Jesus is your condition.
A Testimony About the True Purpose of a Job
A man once shared that he had nothing to give as an offering and gave his belt instead, then began asking around the church for any kind of job, eventually reaching someone working at a bank. Years later, that same connection barely recognized how far he'd come — both had since become ordained ministers. What some call "testimony" is often only the blade, not yet the harvest — the job wasn't the real goal; the people it connected him to were. Anyone who becomes intoxicated by an early gain and starts mistreating the people around them misses the actual purpose of what God gave them. Every promotion in God moves through people — it always comes by referral. Joseph became prime minister because the chief butler remembered his name; Ruth found Boaz because someone had already spoken well of her. God rarely moves a person forward without moving through someone else first.
