Better to Lose Than to Compromise

Joseph's story teaches a set of reversals that run against natural instinct. It is better to be dishonored for doing the right thing than to be honored for doing the wrong thing. It is better to lose favor for doing the right thing than to gain favor for doing the wrong thing. Never allow pressure to make you sacrifice your integrity, regardless of who is applying that pressure.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow even under threat from the king of the land. Daniel refused to stop praying even under the same kind of pressure. Samson, by contrast, bowed not to a king but to a woman with no real authority over him at all, worn down by repeated pressure until he finally gave in, and it cost him his strength and eventually his life. No one is ever big enough to justify bowing to evil.

Let God Speak for You

Joseph was condemned by Potiphar without ever being given a chance to explain himself, sent straight to prison on an accusation he had no opportunity to answer. There will be moments when people condemn you before they've heard your side of anything, and when there is no one available to speak on your behalf. In that kind of climate, let God speak for you when you cannot speak for yourself and no one else will.

Acts 24:16. Paul the Apostle said he exercised himself to always keep a conscience void of offense toward God and toward man. The first step in that season is maintaining a clear conscience before God and man, followed by asking God for mercy in any place where you genuinely were wrong, and then allowing God Himself to judge the situation rather than trying to force vindication on your own timeline.

One Manifestation Ends the Case

All you need is one manifestation of God, one miracle from His hand, and the accusation, the case, and the conspiracy are all over at once. After God moves and delivers His judgment, both the accuser and the accusation lose their power, because a genuine act of God settles what argument alone never could.

I receive the grace to never bow to pressure, irrespective of who it is, to never give up on my conviction to do the right thing in the face of confrontation, and to never bow for evil, just for the sake of being accepted.

Inspiring Quote

Sermon

"One symptom of backsliding is that you begin to look down on the simple things that keep you on fire, calling a devotional 'just milk.' It's not about the information, it's about the consistency."

- Apostle Emmanuel Iren
